    Found my doublestack!

I've been searching for a double stack 1911 to compete with. Wasn't planning on buying anything today but as soon as I saw it, then held it, I said I'd take it. Para Ordinance P18.9sr??? Comes with only one mag though. Don't know much about the company or the model, but it was a doublestack 9mm, and because I couldn't get a RIA or afford and STI, I took it.

Any info on it? Did I do good?

Those are great guns. Congrats. 9mm is my favorite round.

Nice! I had one, loved the 18rd mags or 23rd with dawson precision extended base pads. didn't want to sell it, but i was going for a matching set and the p18-9 didn't match the limited version set i have (p14-45 and p16-40).

If you have the original hi-cap mags, make sure to upgrade the mag springs, otherwise you might encounter bullets nosediving before the feed ramp.

Hmm thanks guys, any info on the company? Couldn't really find anything doing searches.

I also think that the seller kept all of his mags. I mentioned it to the LGS and he said he'd get a hold of one. I told him, I'd take 5 if he could find them. Any ideas on where to find mags and which ones I should use?

I don't own one but years ago on forums every other thread mentioned a Para. The company was highly regarded. The popularity died down. But they are quality pistols and tons of fans couldn't say enough good things about them.

Here's the mecgar mag that is for that gun. If you can find some you could block them. http://gregcotellc.com/cart/index.ph...roducts_id=605

Nice find. They make some nice firearms. They are working on launching a new website so you will not find much one their web page. http://www.para-usa.com/2013/

LAK Supply (one of vendors here) took care of me for the magazines before SHTF.

I am able to find 5 mags online, they are the 10 round limited for California. With this setup, what class will I be shooting? Limited 10? Production?

You'll be in limited 10. Single actions aren't allowed in production. Double stacks aren't allowed in single stack, obviously. You can go limited or open, but you'd be at a disadvantage.

                          Yep.

My favorite gun is my CZ-75 SA in 9mm. But for competition, it's SA so it can't be in production, but it's double stack so it can't be in SS (obviously), so it fits only in Limited or Limited 10. Its max capacity would be 19 rounds, so for Limited, it might be a few rounds short for a no-reload stage of USPSA, so that leaves L-10 MINOR. Now in theory minor scoring puts you at a disadvantage, but on the other hand, a 9mm minor let's you shoot a bit faster (in theory) so if you shoot all Alphas you're a winner! And this works too, I know a guy who wins L-10 with minor all the time because he's a good fast shot, he does it with a Glock 34.

So your gun and my CZ-75 SA are in the same boat. Nice gun, but configured all wrong for USPSA if you want to shoot something other than L-10. Now a single stack 9mm 1911 would be cool to shoot in single Stack because you get to run 10 rounds while .45 1911's run 8 so that evens it out better than in L-10.

Wow! I learn something new everyday. Thanks guys! I've only been shooting USPSA and steel for a little over 2 months now, local club stuff so far. I'm still trying to get a hold of all of the rules and limitations.

When shooting single stack, are you allowed to use 10 round mags for USPSA? Or are you limited to the 8 round mags? If 10 round mags are allowed, am I limited to 8 rounds? I hope that makes sense.

I'm thinking now I probably should have picked up the Beretta PX4 or a glock for production. I was thinking I could use the Para in production, but did not know that SA triggers were not allowed. Oh well, I don't regret the purchase, although I think I'll be the only one shooting Limited 10 in my club. Is there a difference between Limited and Limited-10? How would I be at a disadvantage using the Para? Thanks in advance guys!

I guess I'll be in the market for a production pistol soon

You can use 10 rounders if you're shooting minor. 8 rounds max for major. If you're the only one doing Limited10, you're sure to place well
Most Limited shooters use 40 cal to make major and 20 or 21 round magazines. Limited guns are almost like Open guns without the compensator or optics.
Your Para would be a good pistol for 3gun Limited

You might want to consider a Glock, then you can shoot GSSF matches. A Glock 22 would get you into Limited if you're out of California and get some full capacity magazines. A Glock 34 would be a nice gun for production since all production is scored minor.
