Careful with the 1911 platform. Out of nowhere it will occupy your thoughts and dreams and you'll spend a lot of time thinking about getting the perfect one and all of that. I shouldn't like the 1911 so much but suddenly I do. Any ideas on what you want?

Initial break on the trigger of the xd is a lot cleaner though (IMO of course).

Congrats!...I have two XD 40's (4" & 5") and I love them both. I never bothered with the mag loader, I think it's a lame one, so I use an up lula.

I have shot a glock. There is a reason I dont own one. Reset is better but not the break imo. It is a SD weapon. I highly doubt I will be looking for a reset if I need to use it. But to each his own. I like the xd much more than a glock.

Just checked the reset. I have the tv blasting the probowl and I heard it. I could also feel it on my index finger. Reset isn't long at all. But then again im use to a sigma

i was thinking of using the xd for ccw but when i picked it up and tried to rack the slide wouldnt rack and then realized you have to have your damn hand on the backstrap safety i decided not to get it,

while taking my ccw class the teacher was teaching the thumbs forward high grip and alot of the older ppl in the class were having trouble with it, and a older gentlemen who had a xd wasnt hitting the backstrap safety right since he was trying a new grip and numerous times wouldnt fire, to me for ccw the less crap to get in the way the better

oh and it was this guy that had trouble dont mess with grandpa!!

I picked up some guard dog? SD ammo. I have never seen anything like it. It looks like a FMJ round. I guess it has gel in it? And it expands.

The holster it came with was a nice addition. It is a little tight even when loosened but it works well.
The Guard Dog is pretty much a sexier version of Fed EFMJ. It expands well enough, but it doesn't do as much damage as modern HPs because it's like a big round ball, as opposed to having petals and sharp edges that will cut.

It's principal attributes as far as I'm concerned:
                          1. It's probably legal where HPs are prohibited.
                          2. Will likely feed better than HPs if that's a problem.
                          3. Limits penetration compared to FMJs.

I keep EFMJs in one of my cheap 1911 clones that won't feed JHPs.

Good tip to slick-up plastic/kydex holsters: Spray the gun with WD-40 and then work it in the holster. You may have to tighten the tension up afterwards!
I meant, it is my opinion that...

First time I've heard of wd40 applied to the outside of a gun...
