I would rather be Judged by 12, than be carried by 6. -
+1 on the bore-stores. They are" treated with pure silicon and a specially formulated rust inhibitorto help prevent rust". I use them on just about every firearm I own.
The "presentation box" would have to be made with archival materials as not to affect the pistols bluing or the finish of wood grips.

Regarding original wood grips, if you get them there are 3 older versions and the style depends on when the gun was made. The fully checkered type was used until about 1960/61. The version used from then until about 1974 had a smaller checkering panel with top edge following the contour of the medallion. Later version was similar but with a straight top edged checkering panel. Prices on the last two are about $250.00 or so - usually higher.
Factory grips should have the gold medallion. Also, because of "OM Trooper" and "Trooper MkIII" confusion (OM Trooper grips fit the Python, Trooper MkIII do not) you may see MkIII grips advertised as fitting the Python. Although similar from the outside they do not fit.
Beware of fakes, some are very good. There are also some good aftermarket wood grips that look similar and are advertised as aftermarket.Last edited by dfletcher; 02-24-2013, 4:27 PM.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment
