    Colt Python

Just wanted to share with all what my wife let me buy for myself on Christmas Eve! She let me buy a 6in Colt Python in Royal Blue. The only downside was that it came with no original box or original wodden grips, which is no big deal. I can have a custom box made and order original grips later. I was just pretty happy to find a local one here in San Diego, instead of having to buy one out of state. The revolver itself is in very good condition with about 90% finish. Will post pictures this week when I pick it up

Bast***! Selling my 4" RB was hands down the stupidest firearms decision I've ever made. Even putting a 24" 6.5 Grendel barrel on a Mini doesn't compare.

Congratulations on the great purchase. It's great to hear about someone who got the gun they wanted for a change. Enjoy your new investment.

I thought the price of $1900 out the door was fair, since I've seen them for more on gunbroker. It was more than I would have have liked to pay but it saved me the hassel of buying from out of state. I thought about selling already because I spent a lot on it, but I feel I might regret it if I do

Yeah, you'll never regret it. I just paid over market for a pristine Swedish mauser, but it's already one of my favorite rifles.

            Nice gun!

I saw a stainless one for sale at an LGS here in Fresno right before Christmas. They are beautiful revolvers.

My Python (6" blue) came with rubber grips. Best handgun I own.

Congrats! Look forward to the photos when you post them. I'm currently keeping an eye out for a 4" blue to round out my Python collection.

Mine came with plain black rubber grips. I just received some black rubber grips with the Colt medallions on them. When I pick up the gun I'll put them on and post pics.

I think I have a set of Colt wooden grips somewhere. I'll add them to my "look for next time I go to the mini storage" list.

CDNN has colt replacement/reproduction grips with rampant colt emblem for the Python. My 6" had pachmeyers (sp?) on it....functional, but yuck, ugly.

LOL...yep, I used a set to swap out the factory walnut grips when I went to the range so I wouldn't damage the originals.

Authentic checkerred grips for the older blued Pythons are hard to find. Good used ones can easily go for over $300 for a set.

The ones CDNN sells are later model Fourth Style grips usually found on stainless Pythons.

There are a few replicas available from different sources, with varying degrees of workmanship.

For some interesting info on Colt Python and their grips I like http://www.coltfever.com/The_Colt_Python.html

I wanted one over 25 years ago but choked at the $600 price tag. The action was smooth as glass.
