    357 Auto Recommendations

I'm hoping to only make one purchase in 2013 and I'm looking at a 357 Magnum Automatic, I think they all shoot 38 or 357?

Please post up photos or recommendations. Either roster or off roster will work. Or feel free to post a link to a similar thread.

    Thanks in advance,

    Triple

Might want to check out the S&W M&P's, they have them in 357.

Only ones I've heard of were Desert Eagle, LAR Grizzly and the Coonan Arms.
I saw a LAR Grizzly at Wild Bills in Elk Grove but that was over a year ago.

Shot a Coonan years ago, great gun. I would get one of those if I was gonna buy one.
        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Last time I checked LAR's were selling for $1500 or so. $300 or so for a calibre conversion kit between .45 Win Mag and .357. Probably a little easier to find than a Coonan.

My Wife says I don't articulate very well, I'm starting to believe that, but I don't know how else to say 357 Magnum expect by saying 357 Magnum.

I assume you shoot/load .357 Mag for other guns and aren't just looking at something similar ballistically?

                    Great question.

I have 2 Pythons both in 357 (ones a shooter and one is non-shooter). I don't like to shoot the one that much and would love to get an automatic so I can shoot up some of the 357 ammo that I'm sitting on. I don't reload as of yet, but I want to start reloading and I'm going to start saving my brass from this point on.

The .38 spl and .357 mag are rimmed cartridges and normally used in revolvers or lever rifles. There were a very few semi autos built to fire the .357 magnum.

Smith & Wesson made the Model 52 semi that fires the .38 spl.

You don't like shooting your Pythons? Man, selling my 60's 4" was the worst gun decision I ever made. I never thought they would be scarce or that Colt would quit making them either though...

I compete with the one, so I don't like to shoot that one more than need be and the other is a virgin, both pristine. I love my Pythons, wish I had a 3rd one. But I think I would enjoy having an automatic 357, that's about the only weapon that interest me at this point.

Well, since I assume you'd like it to function, that pretty much leaves the LAR and the Coonan. Much to my surprise, the Coonan appears to still be in production and starts at $1250. So, the Coonan, unless you score a great deal on a used LAR.

The Coonan looks appealing, I wish it closer to $1,000, but it is, what it is. I know DEM makes a 357 as well, but if I were to get one of those, I'd most likely opt for 44 & 50 Cal and not the 357/50 cal version.

Thanks everyone for the info and conversation.
