Not even. Matter of fact I beleive the RIA Tactical model is still cheaper than the G21. OP, I would rent and shoot both. And when you come back telling us how you fell in love with the 1911 trigger we won't hold it against you

For a nightstand gun the Glock wins of course. Do you see police choosing to work with RIAs? For a range "toy" the 1911 will likely feel better to shoot (better trigger and grip). I would follow OceanBob's advice and buy the Glock now and save up $1000 for a better built 1911 later. It is win win, trust me.

I'm a huge 1911 fan, but out of those two choices I'd go with the Glock.

Same here. Go hold the Glock first though and make sure it fits your hands.

For 45 ACP I go with 1911 with low budget, RIA is good, i have 2 and both shots well, 45 commander and 38 super government. For 40 cal and/or 10 mm I'd go with Glock.

I have an RIA Tactical and I really like it, but it is definitely not as reliable as a Glock. The RIA will jam even if I put different brands of 45 Auto ball ammo in it (I guess due to slightly different overall cartridge lengths) and its hit or miss on hollowpoints. I had a box of the Remington Golden Sabers and out of twenty rounds I had problems failing to feed maybe 5 times out of the 20... and yes I have broken it in. It still fires pretty well with just ball ammo. Its a great range gun. But for a super reliable range + HD gun, get the glock.

Get the Glock. In fact I'm thinking about trading my RIA for a G21..

Actually I saw an off-duty cop in my LGS buying an RIA compact for an off-duty weapon a few weeks ago.

Had an RIA, it was meh. My next .45 will be a g21. My next 1911 will be a sig or s&w. save a little more.

You should be able to get both for around $700 total -

I scored a Gen 3 G21 for $345 and a RIA Tactical for $375 -

Patience grasshopper......

Personally I have no desire to own an RIA. So given a choice between those two, Glock 21sf all day every day.

Depends what your looking for. You want high capacity Glock. You want a low end 1911 RIA
