    Glock 21sf or RIA?

Ok so my budget for a new handgun took a bit of a hit was hoping to get a 1911 for about 900 OTD nor I'm down to more like 700. My 2 new options are a glock 21 sf( I have midget hands) or keeping hearing good things about the rock island 1911 I know they are pretty different but I want some thing in .45acp. Any input is always much appreciated.

Glock fanboys will say "get the Glock"
1911 fanboys will say "get the RIA".

    Get the 1911. ;-)

Had to choose between the two and went with an RIA Tac. Wasn't nearly as reliable as the GLOCK for me so I sold it. I shoot the two equally the same, but pretty much prefer everything about the 21 except trigger and width.

Member yzernie sells a sig 1911 for cheap. $735 new right now. Much nicer that the RIA. Hope this helps any. Many people say their RIA's are 100 percent reliable-I just have never seen any.

        WTB used AK MFER.

Ria 1911 GI is often on sale at Turners for $389. Mine has been 100% reliable for the past 1000 rds so far. I broke it in with 100 rds of winchester pdx, 400 rds of Finocci, then 500 rds of umc.

The width on the glock 21sf is just in my comfort zone held the reg 21 and that felt just a tad big. Wish the two local ranges had both to rent but unfortunately they don't have either one.... Dammit Jim!

Where's your location? I have a 21SF in SoCal you can shoot. Just being your own ammo!

It really just depends what you want to do with the gun...

Glock = One of the best, most reliable polymer handguns ever created.
RIA = Inexpensive entry level 1911.

If you want it for self defense or simplicity, go Glock because its proven. Its arguably the best of its kind.
If you like the 1911 look/style, get the RIA because its the cheapest way to enter the 1911 platform which only goes up in price from there.

For my first I'd just the ultra dependable G21SF. I'd then wait and get a quality 1911. Nothing against RIA, but for me I'd get a higher quality 1911 that looks way nicer out the gate then having to spend additional money to make look the way I wanted. Before I forget the magazine capacity is better on G21SF. Since you might have to use it in a defensive situation.
                      I rock a Glock 20 & 21

RIA Tactical, but I'm partial to the 1911!

Sounds like you have a Glock budget right now. IMO wait and get a nice 1911 later

I've never owned a 1911... although its on my list.... top 4 next purchases actually... BUT I have owned a glock 21 (I have huge hands) and I love that gun... very easy to shoot, break down and always goes bang with any brand of ammo I threw at it... I am nowhere near downing the 1911...just speaking from my experience alone... Get a M&P 40 or 45... I have a deep love affair with my M&P 40....my favorite shooter by far

                              Simple... Glock 36 (slimline).
