How the heck does a speed loader work?

glock mags are stupid. loading 7 of them at a time is an exercise in frustration.

my gf can't load more than 4 without one. then watching her struggle smashing her thumb using all this brute force and possibly stabbing her finger with one of the metal feedlips, just not a good picture.

So I bought a Springfield XD9 and it came with a speed loader. How the heck is this thing supposed to be useful? I kind of get the operation but it still seems faster to load by hand ... anyone have any tips or is this just a gimmick?

Speed loaders work fairly well, but I prefer moon clips.... FOR A REVOLVER....

Is it like the Glock mag helper thing? Not even my wife with her wimpy hands uses that thing...

the downfall of the glock mag helper is that it doens't get out of the way once you put the round in. and you might end up flubbing the load and popping it out.

if the xd one is anything like it, get an uplula.

I really like the HKS Magazine Loader. I don't have to brace the bottom of the mag on anything as it is supported by the loader, so I can wander around absent-mindely loading mags while checking out how other people are shooting.

The only negative is that there are different models for different mags. I use model 452, an adjustable one that does double duty with my XD sub-compact and service magazines but just sliding the "base plate resting thingy" 5 clicks in either direction.

And to those who say, "Just do it by hand, ya pansy," Springfield must use titanium in their mag springs. j/k, but I do have a couple mags whose 10th round is really hard to get in. And hey, I'd rather get hand fatigue from shooting than loading.

You don't really need one. And the only reason for needing one basically boils down to you having girly fingers.

That said, I have girly hands, but still load magazines using only what God gave me.

I load all my mags without a loader dealie, except the mags for my Glock 21. They're brand new, and hopefully they will break in, but I just cannot seem to get the 10th round in without the loader.
