In my testing, some ammo is more prone to it than others. Even with Apex's Prototype extractor, I had a few cases fly over my head using UMC and reloads. How powerful it is, the rim of the case, extractor, ejector, slide velocity etc... All affect it ejection and extraction.

Tula ammo worked great for me, way better overall than UMC.

If You HAVE TO HAVE a GEN4 for some reason , stick with .40 for now.

I carry my GEN4 .40 on and off duty. GREAT pistol!

The GEN4 17 is also fine but ONLY with full power LE style JHP ammo and NATO ball.

Or just know you may have to fix it, which Apex has been doing that Glock has not.

I have NEVER had issues with GEN4 17's till I tried to shoot 115 budget target ammo.

            Glock 22 GEN4 shoots everything.

That's your particular gun, every individual gun may work better or worse.

Here is a summary of my testing which has really slowed down lately due to personal matters:

I tried maybe 10-15 of them ( Work as LE instructor).

Some guys brought winchester white box ammo with them and it did nto work very well.

Once we went to the issue stuff, they ran fine.

I'm one of eleven beta testers of Apex Tactical's prototype extractors, some other testers are also LEO Instructors like Wayne Dobbs LE instructor of Aimpoint and Tim Lau of 10-8.
Those guys did two to three times as much testing I did in the same amount of time and in multiple guns. You will see their results on Lightfighter, M4C, 10-8 forums and other places. Collectively we have a pretty good sample that extends beyond eleven individual guns.

And with Apex's extractor, WWB was fine btw.

My gen 3 21 sent a couple casings to my forehead at the range a couple days ago. Oh nooooooooooooooo

                        I was shooting wwb though.

I feel like most pistols, with under powered ammo will spit brass at your dome every once in a while.

They live for the opportunity to be called to duty to protect the innocent. The sheepdog has fangs and the propensity for violence but hopes that he will not have to resort to it. However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."

Except the problem is just as bad, if not worse with Gen3s.

It seems tuning a Gen 4 9 is more and more like tuning a 1911.
No offense meant for fans on either side.

Sounds pretty easy to me. Just lower the side of your ejection port and install an Apex Tactical extractor.

Dang I am glad I came across this thread before I pulled the trigger today on a Glock 17 Gen 4 FDE. My last G19 Gen 3 ran like a champ with no problems. I did find this YOUTUBE video of a G19 Gen 4 FDE and it looks like it's throwing a couple back in his face/head.
Mmmm now I know why all the G22 Gen 4 are selling like crazy now..

Funny thing I went to RifleGear today to buy the S&W M&P 40 and saw a guy picking up his Glock 22 Gen 4 in FDE I said I must have one. But of course they are out of stock, so I was thinking of buying the G17 Gen 4 FDE but not now..

I'll wait tell 2013 to buy one...
