Glock 17 Gen 4 spent casing ejection.

    Hi,

Took my brand new Glock 17 Gen4 to the range yesterday, and 2 spent casings hit my head out of 150 rounds, No FTF or FTEs. Is it OK? I mean is it normal? asking this question because Gen4 9mms had some extractor issues in the past.

BTW, I shot 50 rds of Federal champion and 100 rds of cheap reloads.

    thanks

Glock has not fixed the issues with the recent production guns.

You're going to have to ride the ejector/extractor/RSA merry go round.

      it's trying to tell you....you should've bought an M&P
That may be a CG first!

The easiest fix is to sell it to someone who thinks the Gen 4 Glocks are more desirable because we can't get them and buy a Gen 3.

So he can risk getting 8" patterns at 25y with the m&p?

          CZ's don't merit serious consideration.

Thought Glock fixed extractor issues late last year. My gun has a birthdate of June 2012.

            Thanks

I sold my Gen3 and got Gen4 17, it's for sure better than gen3. M&Ps are good guns, but looks very cheap.

They didn't. There's a huge thread on m4carbine, you'll get much better help reading through that then the suggestions of the chuckleheads on here.

                  Lot of reading to do.

I think the brass to the face issue should be trivial to people, yet it has become this HUGE deal that has given GLOCK a bad name in recent times. It's accurate as heck, awesome trigger, always eats, always comes through. Yeah, it'd be nice if the casings ejected in a nice little 4 o'clock pile, but that's honestly the last of my concerns. It's the most reliable handgun out there.

Is 2 out of 150 rds too much? I have also noticed XD9, Gen 3s hitting the brass on face once In a while.

BTW, I am using cheap reloads.

Read couple of posts, it looks like Glock has fixed the extractor issue and some have brass hitting the face even with new extractor, but there were lot of guys who didn't have any issue as well.

                        Thanks for the link.

Reloads are definitely a factor for me. When I shoot nice & hot factory loads, the brass goes flying and flying farrrrrr. Reloads are underpowered often times and eject with little force

I would be happy with 2/150.

Mine got worse after the 1k mark, about 1 in every magazine, was not a fun range gun.
I swapped the extractor with a lone wolf brand, looks okay...still testing.

                            Good Luck.

Are we sure we're talking about the extractor? or the Ejector? The ejector stamped '336' is the bad part causing erratic ejection. And honestly man, 2 casings in a range trip? There were or are people getting more than half the mag to the forehead. 2 out of 150 is tears in a bucket.

However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."
