Colt Python Price

I have the exact same gun vintage 1982, from what I was told it's unfired, no box, was offered $2,200 for mine, but I won't sell even at that price now. I've had it for at least 15 years or so.

For the value of almost any collectable you should not go by price guides, or what people are asking. You need to find out what a similar items actually sold for. I don't really like Pythons (I have two), but I would buy 95% examples at $700 until I emptied my bank accounts.

I wouldnt sell that piece at all. Keep it. And for the price, it will sell for what people want to pay for it. I wouldnt price that python at 12-1400 like others have mentioned, you can easily make more money. Early $2000's I think. Maybe more.

Sold my 4" barrel for about $1,300 on GB about 1 1/2 years ago. It was the nickel plated model. The "ultimate stainless" was a pre 1974 model and after it was the nickel plated.

I think you have your finishes mixed up. Stainless steel Pythons came about around 1983 and replaced the nickle finished models.

I have an an opportunity to purchase a Colt Python.

From what I know it was made in 1981, 6 inch barrel and is nickel plated. It has only been taken to the range 4 times. I would say it is 95% overall. It does not include the manual or box.

My question is how much is this weapon worth?

Blue book is BS. You won't find one out of state for $700 anywhere.
almost every value I check is below market on the blue book- as if it's lagging back 5 years.

I was told it was Nickel by the owner. I just picked it up for under $1000

I could be wrong. I've received conflicting information on what came first the "ultimate stainless" or the nickel. Does not matter as the Python has a good home in Texas and I replaced the wheel gun with a Para Slim Hawg .45 in stainless. Better carry piece.

Nickel was the first non-blued offering for the Python which ran through 1983.

Satin stainless and mirror-polished Ultimate Stainless models were offered from 1983 until 2003.
