i thought i read a post by you that you dont own a HK USP40 when folks where asking what you where selling to pay them back ?
. As much as I do love guns I'm not sitting on a private arsenal. Just because I like HK's doesn't mean I can afford them. That is not my HK USP Expert in my sig line nor is that me holding one with a thumbs up. They're pictures. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...&postcount=942

Plated metal parts have a slight risk because of the 3% by weight of ammonium hydroxide (used to remove copper fouling) as it will attack nickel as well.
So using Hoppes#9 to just clean the barrel of copper fouling would be okay? This is all I use #9 for with Hoppe's Elite cleaner (supposed to be non-toxic) for all other cleaning.

What is Polymer? Oh it's PLASTIC! And Hoppes comes in a plastic bottle, so it will harm plastic then they would use a glass bottle instead

It's tactical Tupperware, so just stick it in the top rack of the dishwasher!

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Unless your instructor was a Chemist familiar with both the formulation of Hoppes and the Glock polymer I wouldnt take his advice as gospel. I use it on my USPc all the time, but that is an H&K

Are you better off than you were four years ago?

Reminds me of a friend who I was with at the state fair a long time ago; some vendor was trying to sell us a penetrating oil similar to WD-40. He said this stuff will loosen stuck bolts, pentrate anywhere, nothing can stop it! My friend asked him, how do you keep it in the can?

I guess that "over time" translates to greater than 15 years.

There are 2 kinds of plastics, thermosets and thermoplastics. Most solvent bottles are made from polypropylene. It has good resistance to most common solvents and acids. It has a high molecular weight but is very light and easy to synthesize.

Glock's marketing campaign at the time I bought mine claimed it didn't require cleaning. So I didn't. And rarely do. I bought it with the full intent to abuse it.

But I don't soak down the frame...dip in a toothbrush, brush the frame/internals, and wipe down with a patch, then wipe down again with a slightly oiled rag, call it a day.
This is exactly what I do too. I don't soak my alloy frame just a little on a toothbrush, wipe, q tip, wipe, oil, wipe, done
