The round got stuck half way into the chamber. The fourth, and fifth round also jammed in the same manor. The sixth round got stuck and I had to grease it so much before I could barely forced it out.

I called Sig customer service and they say it needs 500 rounds break in period. They insists that it would function properly. I bought a Wilson mag and tried it with the gun. This time it works better than the first time....it only jammed once.

I got rid of it and bought a Kimber. I don't know if that was a bad batch or what. I own other Sigs and they are great. I didn't expected this one to be this problematic.

Just earlier this year, a friend of mine bought a sig 1911 XO, the same model. He took it out to the range the first day and it has the same exact problem. Disappointed, he went out and buy a kimber just like me. However, he kept the Sig. After about 1000 rounds it doesn't jam any more.

I'm not saying Sig is bad. I just want to share my experience. I think Sig 1911 might just need to be well broken in to work smoothly.
500 rounds just to get the rounds to feed right into the gun? That's a lot of ammo, range time and cost before you can get a reliable gun. Hmmm...Even if you use the 'cheap' Walmart Federal .45 ACP at $30/100, that's at least $150 + tax in ammo, then you have range rental, targets and your time.

I pick my Springfield Loaded up on Friday. Hopefully hit the range on Saturday and hope to put about 100 or so rounds thru it, maybe more. Yeah...just a little anxious to pick it up!!!

Rock Island Tactical 2012 Models come with a rail which the OP mentioned he wanted. It can be bought for under $575 OTD leaving $425 of his budget for magazine, light, laser or even a $325 Kimber 22 conversion kit.

Yes, you're absolutely right. How could I be so gullible. I guess seeing things on the 'printed' page gives it a look of authenticity.

That should have been $39.99/100 rounds of .45 ACP!!! J/K.

Deals are out there... I came across this TRP, via PPT for 950!

Most of my deals have been at the range/gun store. Just talking with people and find out they have a gun for sale.

                  True that.

This is solely my experience. Other Sig 1911 XO may be different. I wouldn't believe this if I didn't see it first hand too. But if any one wants more detail about this I'm happy to provide more.

P.S. my Kimber functioned flawlessly without any problem. The only complain is that the finishing should be more durable. After 600 rnds I already see a slight wear on its thumb safety

Sig Nitron Rail I bought earlier this year. $1000 out the door. So far , 700 rounds thru it. Love this pistol. The trigger has gotten very smooth , and its accuracy is excellent as long as I do my part. Never had any real break in period, its only had a couple magazine spring issues which will be gone when I buy a few more aftermarket mags. I bought it over the others because of the fact it has a different slide profile, slightly higher and heavier than standard 1911. I dont much care for the flat smooth slides, prefer a little detail machining done on sides . I would not hesitate to buy another. That being said, there is a very hot STI Rangemaster 6 in barrel 1911 that I would love to get if I can do a SSE on it.......

OP, if you have not bought the gun yet, check out the Kimber TLE II.

Please look into RIA Tactical 2011 or an ATI Thunderbolt for sub 1K range also. You might need to SSE it if you are thinking about either one. I thoroughly broken in my 2011 after 5000 rounds and had no problems with it.

Colt or Kimber. I pass on the SAs due to them being Brazilian in one form or another. That means a ton to me.
