If I were you I'd take a look at the Smith and Wesson 627 pro series. Its a 4inch barrel 8-shot .357 magnum. I almost bought one myself a little while ago. Very nice gun.

They can be had for around $850

I am surprised and disappointed by the responses so far.

So we can basically ignore his original question, instead help him which of the two revolvers he is considering to purchase would be the first one to buy. I agree with you. Eventually he'll end up getting both or more in his future.
