IMO Kimber is overpriced and their constant QC and rust issues led to me selling mine and never wanting to purchase another.

Springfield is the best choice out of the 3 listed due to the Lifetime Warranty and overall QC they are able to maintain.

With $1,200 budget you may find a used TRP non rail at that price. If you want to buy now, I think Springfield is the best bet because of their warranty & customer service. (I also own a Kimber, but never own a 1911 SIG).

But you only have 2 hands? Get 2 Remington R1s for $600 each.

Rock Island Armory for sure! Save the rest for something else!
I'd rather be at the range!

The SIG is great, but it has a big "memory bump" on the safety (Well, my friend's SIG does) and FOR ME, after shooting a single magazine, it hurt my delicate hand. My RIA Tactical does not have that bump, and I love it.

Honestly, 1911's differ in terms of features and finish. Do you like front strap checkering? Do you like swelled mainspring housings? What kind of sights do you like? Don't know? Hmm... Me neither, that's why I bought the RIA Tactical. Because 1911s have so many configurations you don't know what you like. So far I like everything about the Tactical except the plastic mainspring housing (nothing wrong with plastic, but its checkering is a touch sharp).

My real suggestion is to try out other peoples and if you must buy, get something cheaper so you know what features you really like in a 1911. With other guns, you get what you get, but with 1911's you can pick and choose, so choose wisely.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

For 1200, get RIA Tactical and ammo. But if you are really considering one of those 3, I'd get the Springfield.

I just bought this model for my brother after a lot of research as a best buy at the 1k or so price point. See if you can find a used DW. I'd take a DW with several thousand rounds through it over a new Sig, S&W or Springfield. You couldn't get me to buy a Kimber at any price.

Buy an older series 70s Colt if you need a 1911.

You are going to be @ $1300 plus tax and DROS to get that gun into CA and SSE/transferred.

                                Still, not a bad option...
