My vote goes to the S&W M&P 40.

Try before you buy. If you can make it to this: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?p=8815628 we usually have a few you can try.

Not to boast about glock but they are as good as the others or I'd go with the sig but what's its intended use if sd/hd get what you can shoot a lot and be accurate with. If for plinking same as all other posts accurate fun to shoot and tacticool stuff j/k on late part

+1 on the CZ 75b SA in .40.

I own a DW CBOB, and a few CZ 9mm including a SP-01....and the .40 is easily my favorite semi to shoot. I'm still revolver guy though.

I've also tried every other .40 out there (except that gorgeous 646 above) and for me only the Xd came close.

What I like about my Glock .22 - .23 - .27 is I can put Wolf 9mm barrels in them for about $ 110.00 and target practice much cheaper using the 9mm ammo.

My M&P9 (same ergos as a 40) is super easy to carry daily.

                        M&P is my recommendation

Love my Glocks, but for Daily carry I go with my Kahr P-9 or PM-9 I love them both and they are both available in .40 also.

                            Why, I would recommend a Browning Hi-Power Practical two-tone in .40 S&W of course.
