Of course it depends on your intended use..concealed carry or home defense. The 23 is a compact frame great for LTC. If you're looking for home defense, a larger frame may be appropriate. The Glock 22 for example. That said, Glock isn't the only gun out there. Poke around and see what fits you and your needs the best.Last edited by giantsfan; 06-25-2012, 9:41 AM.I can resist everything...except temptation. Wilde

Glock 22/35, Springfield XD, HK USP/P2000, SW M&P, Sig P226/229...to name just a few.
The Glock, XD and M&P can be converted to 9mm for a relatively inexpensive outlay. Don't know about the others. Got a conversion barrel and some 9mm mags for my G35 for less than $200.Comment

Get the M&P 40c and a 9mm barrel.. I bet you stay with the 9mm. Much better recoil control, less snappy. They both get the job done, it's about where you put the rounds not what caliber they are. I can snap out 3 full mags with quick changes into the 9 ring or better just about as fast as I can pull the trigger.Comment

If You want a really nice carry gun in 40 that is small enough for CCW and Big enough to shoot accurately out to 25 yards , look at these tow guns:
1) Sig P239 in .40
Very nice pistol . SIngle stack magazine. Easy to carry , fun to shoot.
2). Smith and Wesson 4013 series . 9rd magazines , VERY nice gun. Also easy to carry .
G23 is great too. Just the ten round magazine limit

Unless this is for carry, Glock 35 or S&W M&P40.
If for carry, Glock 23, SiG P239, H&K USPc40 LEM, H&K P2000 LEM, or S&W M&Pc40."When you get the (men) to the range, you just get the men. But when you bring the (women) to the range, you get the (whole family). And that's what's going to save our 2nd Amendment."--Dianna Liedorff
