I was thinking of getting a Glock and Duracoating the slide white, also I had the idea of getting the Frame done and maybe the barrel in a color like red or green, but in the long run do you think that the white finish would stain from the carbon after shooting and cleaning, Yes or no on the compensated which gets kinda filthy? I'll probably get it in a caliber that I won't shoot too much like .357 Sig. What do you all think about it? If I do end up doing it, I will be doing 100-200 rounds per shoot every couple of months or so. Just a crazy idea for my collection. Let me know.

I think if that is what you want, go for it and who cares with others think. I wouldn't do it for myself though. Can't answer your question about staining but I would think the powder would just wipe off. It's the cleaning solvents and oils that would probably stain the finish.Comment

Go for it. My carry gun is a G22 that has a chromed slide and the lower is painted and textured with a light gray. Looks kinda like a STI Executive, but still my Glock. I did it for a little "bling" and something "softer" than a black gun. Still have the G23 for more descrete carry.

White Duracoat is available...
They do sell Duracoat in white - you can buy it here, where they show an AR-15 finished in that color:

Doesn't California have a restriction on the color of real firearms, to distinguish them from replicas?
I'm pretty sure you can't have an orange or yellow gun. Does anyone know the code reference?Useless laws weaken the necessary laws.

White porcelain.
That's funny.
And yeah, it's a myth.
Die Hard 2, 1990, 57 continuity errors, goofs and blunders: Factual error: Early in the film, Willis' character describes a terrorist's handgun to Dennis Franz as a "Glock 7" which is made in Germany and made of ceramic; able to pass undetected through metal detectors. While the model could easily be made up for the movie (there's no real Glock 7, and even the mostly non-metal models are easily detected), Glocks are Austrian, not German./Chris

So are you trying to make it look like a Christmas tree or something the Joker would use?
Whatever floats your boat......you should partner up with the guy who wants a pair of gold-plated Springfield Custom 1911s like in the movie "Face/Off".

Contrary to popular movies like Die Hard 2: Die Harder, neither Glock nor any other gun maker has ever produced a "porcelain", "ceramic" or "plastic" firearm which is undetectable by ordinary security screening devices. Even if a pistol completely undetectable by either X-ray machines or metal detectors were to be developed, the ammunition inside would still be detectable.
In Die Hard 2, the character John McClane portrayed by Bruce Willis specifically referred to a non-existent "Glock 7" with many fictitious characteristics:
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me! You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it costs more than you make here in a month!
Mike Papac, an armorer at Cinema Weaponry, which supplied the Glock pistols used in Die Hard 2, has stated, "I remember when we did that scene, I tried to talk them out of it. There's no such thing as a gun invisible to metal detectors, and there shouldn't be, but they wouldn't budge. They had it written into the script and that was that."

County brushes off gun misfire at Schererville center
July 19, 2007
By Piet Levy Post-Tribune staff writer
SCHERERVILLE -- It sounds like something out of a "Police Academy" movie.
Cook County correctional officer Jermaine Bell, 36, of Lynwood, Ill., was at the Schererville Golf and Fun Center with his son late Sunday when he took out his gun and accidentally fired it into the ground.
Schererville police responded to the scene at 10:11 p.m. Bell told them he was trying to put the safety on when he accidentally fired the weapon. Bell showed police his Cook County officer's badge, and said he was carrying a Glock 7 handgun.
But Cmdr. Randy Reno of the Schererville Police Department said a Glock doesn't have an external safety switch. And a Glock 7 isn't even a real gun. It's a fictitious, porcelain gun-type fabricated for the 1990 action movie "Die Hard 2."
Reno said Schererville police presented a case for criminal recklessness to the Lake County Prosecutor's office, which declined to file charges. Prosecutors deemed the case an accident, saying it failed to meet the criteria for the charge.
Reno said he was disappointed by their decision.
"Fortunately nobody was hurt," Reno said. "It was a very poor case of judgment on (Bell's) part."
Reno did say Bell will be cited for discharging a firearm within Schererville limits, a violation of a town ordinance.
Penny Mateck, spokeswoman for the Cook County Sheriff's Office, said that Bell has been a nighttime guard at the Cook County Jail in Chicago for more than two years.
Mateck said Bell was de-deputized Wednesday, pending an internal investigation.
