IMO, cleaning your gun is a cheap insurance and it's fun to do.

I clean my guns whenever I have the time, which is not very often.

I don't worry about little things like this and haven't had a malfunction caused by a dirty gun.

A modern centerfire pistol should easily be able to handle not being cleaned for a couple of thousand jacketed rounds.

Rimfires can be a different story. My AA kit on a G17 seems to have problems after 300-400 rounds of Golden Bullets. My 22/45 can run for quite a long time on Federal bulk, as long as it has been lubed.

A fair number of my guns are dirty ( some more than others : ) ), but all have appropriate amounts of lube.

You pays your money, you takes your chances...

Cleaning and oiling after every trip to the range is part of the joy own owning a gun for me. Like washing, waxing, and detailing a prized muscle car. I'm not scrubbing away with brass brushes every time, but a do make liberal use of swatches, q-tips, and CLP.

If a round goes down the tube, the pistol gets cleaned. Every time.

Cleaning the guns after every range trip allows me to wind down after a day of shooting. I can watch something on TV and do the bulk of the cleaning, and during commercials finish anything that needs more attention. The guns probably don't need the cleaning, but it is relaxing for me.

after shooting sessions... all guns that were shot are cleaned.

guns that are stored in safe for long periods of time are checked at regular intervals.

Cool. So I guess cleaning after every session won't hurt the gun. I was just afraid of wears that stacks up with I do excessive cleaning. I still dont rack my gun that hard cuz it wears the coat out hahahaha.
I'd rather be at the range!

Here are my guidelines for cleaning my guns.

Rimfire- I clean my rimfire firearms after every 1000 rounds or when I notice malfunctions.

Centerfire- I clean ever 200-300 rounds or when I notice malfunctions.

Corrosive ammo- after every range trip

Anytime I practice with my primary self defense weapon I clean it immedatily after practice.

I would like to note that I do wipe down my guns with CLP or Liquid Wrench after every range trip, I then place them in Bore-Stores. Doing this helps prevent rust.

Throw mine in the washing machine after each trip from the range. Comes out clean and smelling fresh with bounce. . I clean and lube after each trip to the range. Hate dirty guns,
