    DA/SA 9mm with nice trigger?

I'm looking for an accurate 9mm auto for recreational range shooting at 25 yards. High priority given to a clean and light SA trigger break. The DA pull doesn't concern me as much. Concealability or light weight is not really an issue. I need to make a short list to find for test shooting, so help me out with your experiences. No SAO.

I was at the range last weekend with my .22s, a Ruger MkII and a K-frame S&W, as well as on old family relic Colt Police Positive Special in 32-20, which reminded me how much my enjoyment of shooting is affected by the trigger. The Colt is pretty clean but quite heavy, and even if the ammo wasn't crazy-expensive, I wouldn't want to shoot it that much. My favorite is definitely the Smith, because the trigger is nicer than the MkII (not that the Ruger is terrible). So, I know I'll be sorry if I get a 9mm that has a heavy or creepy SA pull.

DA/SA with nice trigger pretty much = Sig. There are other choices, but for out of the box, that's a pretty good place to start.

Check out the 226. It's fun for the range.

(If you are not stuck on DA/SA, but are more focused on trigger, you may want to look into the Browning High Power or a 9mm 1911.)

      S&W 5906 IDPA Performance Center

This will be tough to find in CA and will need to be a PPT as the Single Shot Exemption will be hard to do and expensive. There are a couple of members here who have one, maybe they will post some pics...

I would recommend a Beretta 92FS, then change out the stock hammer spring with a "D" spring. The DA pull would be pretty close to your S&W K frame (at least mine was).

CZ 75b. Put in a slightly lighter hammer spring.

Lots of great first posts without addresses recently.

Someone might have the perfect gun and live right next to you.

Yeah if you're near San Francisco you're welcome to shoot my SP-01. Out of the box, they're a little bit rough but they smooth out after a couple/few hundred rounds to have one of the smoothest DA/SA triggers out there. A lighter hammer spring noticeably lightens up the DA pull. An extra $100 to get a tuned sear/hammer set from Cajun Gun Works and you will absolutely not find anything better in both DA/SA except maybe some tuned revolvers. SA with a worked hammer/sear can break as cleanly as a high end 1911 and can be as light as you want it.

Also, accuracy of a CZ is basically impossible to beat by anything in the general price range with a factory barrel. If it's target shooting at 25 yards, this would be a great choice.

A strong third for the CZ75. Great handling, very accurate, easy to get a great trigger pull.

The Sig Sauer P229 is an excellent choice or if you're on a budget the Beretta PX4 Storm or as mentioned above the Beretta 92FS (although I prefer the PX4).

OP specifically said no SAO. Although that's kind of puzzling since he said it's the SA pull he's concerned about...About the best SA trigger you can find is a 1911. But the CZ 75 is a close second IMHO (maybe third after BHO)

Are you looking for a dedicated target ($$$) gun, a range toy, or a service pistol?

For a dedicated target gun, look into SSEing a Sig P226 AllAround, but that is at least $1500.

For a range toy I know S&W makes a 22lr revolver with a really clean single action pull.

If you want a "service pistol" type gun then there are quite a few good choices, already mentioned above.

I'm a big fan of things that go bang in a hurry if needed, and I just don't like the idea of cocked-and-locked. I doubt it will ever come up, but I like that I can just pick the thing up and mash the trigger.

                        Range toy.

I already have one of those. I want a slightly louder range toy, too.

CZ SP-01 9mm. Mine were reworked by Matt Mink so I don't know if this would count as opposed to factory triggers.

Same thumbs up for CZ 75B sa/da 9mm

After the first two hundred rounds it was perfect enough for me.
