Looking for a hand gun that has this function

hey all yeah i was just thinking a function that the BERSA thunder 9 (full sized) has and was wondering if there were any other hand guns that had it. The function is that when you empty a mag and slam a new one in the mag well the slide releases with out having to press the slide release. so dose any one know of another gun that has this function? (BTW) BERSA thunder 9 not legal in CA so thats why i was looking if there was any guns that were that had that function.

I can get my M&Ps to do it, but only sporadically. I think unless it happens everytime it's not really a feature but an annoyance and a distraction. I've become able to keep focused if I reload quickly and it doesn't happen and and if i reload quickly and it does happen. I just wish it would be either all the time so I don't have to be prepared for either scenario.

Almost any semi-auto pistol can be do that. I've gotten Glocks, Sigs, HKs, M&Ps, CZs, and even a few 1911s to do it.

It depends on the individual gun.

Most handguns that do that aren't really meant to do that if that makes sense lol that's why you can only get SOME smithy's to do it but not all of them will lol. I owned a Bersa uthunder9 ultra compact it was my first hangun so I held on to it for 5 years until the slide cracked. I framed it for memories lol. Back to the topic. Personally I don't know of any makes or models that come standard with that feature but I wouldnt base my handgun purchase on that feature. Just buy a better make and model and practice reloading drills. With practice realoading quickly will be quick and as simple as breathing. Muscle memory is your best friend in reloading. Ultimately its your choice (obviously) so do some research and see what's out there.

OP, You might be able to get some tips from competition shooters that mod their pistols to have this feature.

The Bersa Thunder 9 is legal in CA for you to own and buy.

It is not on the Roster so to buy it you would need to be exempt or the gun would need to be in an exempt form.

            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

To a new shooter, that sounds quite dangerous. Just sayin'.

I think the new m&p's do it automatically. I am not fond of that idea at all. Sounds like one more thing that can go wrong.

It is not a bad idea, you just need to train to have a back up plan in case it doesn't work the way you wanted it to.

The M&P9 will do what you want. Find someone near you that has one or go to a range and rent one.

My Bersa thunder .380 does that....I like that function but it only does it with a round in the mag and not with an empty mag.

Could be a loose design that causes it. I don't remember reading about it in the manual.

When my Ruger KP90 was brand new it would do that fairly often. The "feature" kind of went away with round count. I don't know if I started seating the mag a little more gently of if the parts actually broke themselves in...

Pretty sure it's not something that's deliberately designed into any handgun.
