    WTF DOJ?????

Can somebody explain to me why the ultralite S&W 629PD and Taurus 444 in .44 w/ a 4" barrel are only legal in CA is they are stainless steel? Why on Earth would the blued version be illegal and not on the approved list?
    It makes no sense.
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000.
The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

Because they are the one's Taurus or whoever had tested. It costs money to test the guns and They only tested the stainless ones.I spoke to a DOJ guy about 2 years ago about the Taurus tracker in 44 mag. This is what I was told.

on a lighter note just sayin' the blued version is not safe.........due to finish.

Go on...tell me more. What difference does the finish make on function? Maybe the S&W is a better choice.

The Roster is not about function or safety. It's about the Legislature taking the power to define guns as 'good' and 'bad'.

Edit: beat to it by Librarian, who explained it better anyway

The roster isn't rational and was never designed or meant to be. Don't think too hard, it doesn't have to make sense.

Thinking about it and expecting it to make sense will only make your head hurt.

I feel your pain. I wanted to buy a Sig P-6 online, but the DOJ list only has 1 approved importer, even though several importers brought them in. Yet the Sig p225, which is the identical pistol, is on the approved list. I was told to just close my eyes and think of England.

Heck, I am going to get a Walther PPQ via SSE--that will show that wascally wabbit!!

It is not a "safe guns" list. It is a California Approved list (meaning the company paid money to Ca. to get the gun on the list). I wonder how many guns, if any, are submitted and fail.

The finish does not make any difference as we all know. The guns that do not specify color or finish in part number avoid this crap. I got my fnp40 stainless this way. Buy the smith if your rich or the Taurus if your not. I will get flamed here but Taurus is a good gun. I like my tracker 44magnum.

                  Librarian said it best.

They can't make money by just saying all models in that line are legal. The companies are aware that only the guns they submit and pay the fees for the state to submit each gun to the test that are required in Ca. It sucks but it is what it is.

                      OP has over 1200 posts!

Was that a serious question or just venting? I say he knows better and is just venting. Nothing wrong with that, I do it all the time.
