    Glock 19 or ???

I have been checking out a Glock 19. Would like a compact 9mm. Before I jump in, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on other similar sized 9mm guns. Looked at the Kahr and also a S&W but I don't recall the model numbers. Both Kahrs and the S&W were very similar in size to the 19.

Look at me, giving advice already! I just got the G19 this week and LOVE is the right word for it. It is just so simple to use and fun to shoot. But I have a friend who traded her Glock for a S&W M&P in 9mm and she loves it and has made it her new carry gun. I think some people like the ergonomics of the M&P better than the Glock. And there's the new M&P Shield, if you don't mind having less magazine capacity.

CZ P-0 is a finer hand gun IMO. The Glock is a better (lighter) duty/combat weapon.

If you're using it for home protect and range day, I'd get the CZ. But what do I know.

The M&Pc is smaller than the G19. Not by a lot, but I have owned both (okay a M&P9c in 40 and G23 -same thing). Even with the finger rest the M&P9c was too short for me. It also seemed to torque back in my hand more than the G23. Now a 9mm may not have as much noticeable difference, but I could feel it in the 40 cal.

I've shot a Kahr before and it has a real long and strong trigger pull. Actually nice on a CCW gun, but a little too much for my taste as a range gun or a competition compact. I know someone who uses a Kahr 9 as her CCW gun and uses it in IDPA and she struggles with the trigger.

What are you trying to do with it? CCW, home defense, or range gun?

I guess I am partial to the Glock because it is what I ended up with. They are all good choices.

If you want to spend some $$$ the springfield EMP is quite cool. I have a friend with one and it is basically a baby 1911.

Glock is a fine choice. I traded a smith and wesson m&p for a g17 and am very happy. Mp compact would be closer to g19. Don't forget about Sig sauer. Love my p229. Good luck.

I have a G19 and think it is the best compact 9 in existence. XDM's may be worth looking at.

I will eventually use it for a class to qualify to apply for the CCW permit. Just for range shooting I would want something a bit larger with a longer sight radius. A gun that will be used in a possible SD situation will probably be used only 10-15 feet. My home SD gun is my .357.

Glock 19. Can't go wrong. Find one at a range to rent and see for yourself. Remember, if you plan to have it as a carry gun, simpler is better.

Check out the interchangeability, capacity & price of magazines with the Glock. Compare that with all the others.

G19 is hard to beat, excellent overall versatile size, great gun.

CZ-75bSA...I simply like it better overall than my G19, and that is saying something.
Never mind, it will be a long while to find a CZ, hahaha.

Ruger SR9c, would be close to a match up on the size as well.

Also check out the Walther PPQ (SEE needed), I have yet to find a bad reviews on it (doubt I will).

It's a little dull, but the G19 is one of the best pistols out there.

Best advice I can give you is to try it out before you make your purchase. Go to your local firing range and see if they have one for rental.

Try and shoot as much 9mm (if that's what you're looking for) before you make a rash decision.

Before I purchased my Glock 19, I was all over HK USPs, great gun, however after firing it, it simply wasn't for me (All personal preference, nothing agasint HK.). Took me a while, tried a handful of other firearms but again, the Glock 19 felt the best.

For a 9mm, Glock is the best for the buck in my honest opinion, but again, it all comes down to personal preferences.
