my dad always CCed in a fanny pack, which really solves the question of "where do you keep the extra mags?". It seems like a funny place to put it, but it was accessible enough for him to draw on a guy who tried to jack his truck at a gas station.

I do not have a CCW, but I talked to a gentleman that used one of those smartphone "holsters" to hold two spare 1911 magazines hidden in plain sight. Seemed like great idea to me.

I usually CCW a S&W 337 in an ankle holster -- it has an elastic pocket on the outside of my ankle that holds two speed strips very nicely. Quick access, quick to reload (for a revolver) and light and handy such that I can have it with me always.Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. Small camera pouches also work well for a pocket-carried pistol.
