CCW "Extra mags" Question

I always carry a spare magazine, usually two. Magazines, being mechanical devices, can fail.
I have a few different ways of carrying a spare magazine or two, depending on what I am wearing etc. A few things I have learned:
Carrying spare magazines opposite of your weapon, if your weapon is carried at the waist strong side (IWB or OWB) sort of "balances" your load. Ditto in reverse for a shoulder holster.
Magazines carried at the waist (weak side) even OWB are easier to hide than the butt of many pistols. My smallest carry pistol is an HK P2000 SK, and magazines carried on the opposite side are (for me anyway) easier to conceal (not print) than the gun.
IWB magazine carriers (I've tried the single from Comptac and the double from Crossbreed) are NOT comfortable at all.
Single stack magazines can easily slip into a front pocket. I have also carried a mag for my SIG P220 by slipping it into the coin pocket of my jeans, with my belt over the exposed portion. Not ideal, but it does work, and made me wonder where I might find jeans with that 5th pocket on the left hand side.
Often two single magazine carries works better than one double magazine carrier.
As we are often reminded, a stout, quality belt makes a big difference, for gun and mags.Comment

Safariland makes a nice double paddle holster for mags.. I never leave home without it.

I use these:

These add hardly any bulk to the mag, even with a relatively thick Glock magazine. You can stack as many next to each other as you need and they will conform to your body.
Glock 19 with at least one spare on the person. Grab bag with several more in the car.
I wholeheartedly agree with dobek's post that if things go South it is very likely that a lot of rounds will go downrange... an attacker that is high on drugs may take several hits without knowing it...Upcoming Classes:

Pocket carry an extra magComment

Carrry a gun=carry spare ammo...or as I do on occassion, carry a spare gun. I'm a fan of offside pocket carry for my spare G-27 magazine.
Spare ammo gives you options, no spare ammo leaves very little option. Nobody ever lost a gunfight because they had too much ammo.
The only time too much ammo is a problem is if you catch on fire or fall in to the deep end of a swiming pool.

I simply carry 2 extra mags for my Glock 19 on my support side in a Fobus double-mag carrier made of kydex.
I think it cost me like $11.Comment

I carry a single extra G17 mag for my G26 in a CompTac IWB carrier, because most of the time my clothing and situation dictates that I have to have something tuck-able and totally invisible. Is it comfortable? Not really, but not as uncomfortable as not carrying a spare mag... For me during practice drills a mag change from a carrier on the belt has always been faster than fishing in my pocket for the extra mag.
For the LCP I have a Desantis pocket carrier for the extra mag.Slow justice is no justice.

I was going to ask...how likely is it during an armed encounter, when the stakes are high and the adrenaline is pumping (and after some rounds have already been fired), that you will be able to get your hand in your front pocket? I don't think I would ever carry a mag there. maybe the back pocket, or if the mag stuck out of the top of the pocket. But I can hardly get my hand in my front pockets when I am cool calm and collected.
