lol i have 2 myself and i just got started

but would you (calgunners) consider a 1911 your main battle pistol?

how would you determine if your 1911 is "battle" worthy?

The only data point I have is a steel match I watched, any time a pistol jammed, it was a 1911. Not dissing, I have one myself. Also, it's not easy to blow-off what he says in the video because he - as instructor - has seen 15,000 students, each of which fired ~1000 rounds come through his class. That's 15 Million rounds, so if he says the 1911 has trouble, how do you argue the point. I thought it ironic that he keeps loner Glocks on-hand for when the 1911s jam.

Fire a lot of rounds through it and count the gun/mag-related failures.

I don't have a Glock but I do have a 1911-A1. I have to say that it has had a FTF once in a while, even though I keep it clean and well lubed but I also usually shoot reloads so I base the FTFs more on the cheap ammo I am plinking with than the gun. When I shoot factory fresh ammo, I have never had a FTF.

If I get my CCW, I will probably buy a plastic gun although I don't know if it will be a Glock, I have to shoot more of them.

"1911s suck" is just a ploy to boost hits on YouTube, social media has become no different than the sensationalism of TV.

All guns can have problems. My friend is in LAPD and his G21 jammed twice in the middle of a shootout.

A super accurate , true custom 1911 with top of the line match ammo or VERY best reloads is great target gun.

I would never compare an average 1911 to Glock , Sig , Beretta etc.

In reliability department 1911 will not match new, top of the line service pistols.

1911's don't suck. His shirt and beard sucks!

Really though, as a 1911 owner, I can say that he made a valid point or two, but if wasn't such a douche-nozzle, the points might hold more merit.

                          BTW, repost!

News Flash! My SIGs have jammed. Overall, my 1911's seem as reliable as the SIGs and don't jam any more than any other pistol I own and jam less than several. DA auto does have some advantages in terms of carry status and first shot - cocked and locked always seemed a little sketchy to me. Also, there have been more than a few lawsuits involving Glocks and self-inflicted AD wounds - many were LEOs. No pistol is perfect

Honestly, a grown man in that getup? The guy can't even dress himself. Why do I care what he thinks?

1911's are great! They look great, feel great, are fun to shoot and even better to customize and make yours personally. However....... my 3 Glocks go bang every single time and I wouldn't trade them for anything else. I am a die-hard glock shooter since I bought my first one in 1987. I am a firm believer in shooting what is right for you and wont disparage anyone from owning whatever they want. I even had a guy at the range yesterday bashing my G26 because it was to small and ugly. His XD FTEd several times and he was all over his target at 5 yards! My G26 took out the center of the Zombies head in 10 shots! Whatever works. Absolutely love that 26!
