I would get the 1911. Also, one of your negatives for the 1911 was only 7-8 round mags, you can always get 10 round mags.

+1 The Kimber is also very reliable.

I'd get a 1911, but skip the Desert Warrior. For just a little more, there are two letters (L and B) that is leagues ahead in terms of awesomeness.

1911s have heavenly triggers and are VERY EASY to shoot accurately. Follow up shots are FAST!

              But FWIW...

Some professionals believe that 1911s require dedication in terms of maintenance and reliability, but Glocks are good to go out of the box...

              Kimber Warrior woes...

For most recreational shooters like myself, it's really a non-issue. I'd buy what I would enjoy shooting the most. But, that's usually the hardest part to figure out.

Another consideration is that for the price of a Warrior, you can probably buy the Glock and a lot of ammo.

Get the Kimber. It will soon carve out it's own special place in 'yer gun totin' heart.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I got about $600 in cash and Reeds gift cards for Xmas. That would pay for pretty much all of the Glock but only about half of the Kimber. I'm still undecided, although it looks like 9/10 say get the Kimber.

Now I'm thinking of building an AR since I don't have one of those either. I know this is the wrong section but can I build a nice AR for $800ish?

You must have been good for christmas I say, go with the glock since its cheaper and reliable. The Kimber is a better gun hands down but you also have to pay more for it. In the end, you need to get both in the collection.

Yes, you can build a nice AR for around 800ish. There have been some good deals on uppers lately.

Might be selling a Springfield GI Champion in a couple of weeks. I have yet to decide if .45ACP is too powerful for my aging arms.
