before you take the plunge, think about the ammo costs. i've known more desert eagle owners who've sold the gun due to 44mag ammo prices after the cool factor wore off.

I was just playing with one with the rail at MBR in Culver City last week. I think you're good to go.

If you can afford a $1,500 handgun, you can afford $50 for a box of ammo. The best thing about a DEM isn't shooting it, it's OWNING It.

The giant fireball cool factor wouldn't be lost on me.

There's nothing like shooting a DE. Ammo is expensive but you probably won't shoot it much.I know I don't. The grip is so bulky and uncomfortable but shooting it is a dream.

Yea, I think it's the type of gun you pull out at the range and fire off a couple dozen shots, get some attention then move on to your other guns, not very practical, and I WANT ONE!!!!!

Any used/new 44/50 barrel type can be put on and is legal here in CA, you just can't buy the 50 complete. I think they only ship with the two point mount barrel if you are buying it new. Turners is selling them in black again, just be prepared to wait for one.

I can get 45ACP (new ball ammo) for about $20 a box, you call that expensive? That does not seem out of line compared to a $1,000-$1,500 gun.

That is only if you are the occasional shooter. What if he is shooting 3000 rounds a year? Still, for $20.00 a box you are looking at $400.00 a thousand plus tax. It does not take long before you have run more dollars in ammo than the original purchase price of the gun.
