New shooter, Kimber Pro Carry II, a few stovepipes until I firmed up my grip, now flawless through ~2000 rounds of Winchester white box. Started reloading and had a few FTF until I got the overall length right, now perfect through another ~1000 rounds. Replaced recoil spring on schedule. Using Wilson mags.Comment

My Springfield Loaded is currently at SACS for warranty work, which doesn't bother me at all. In my experiences with Springfield, they take care of and resolve any issues for their customers, no questions asked. So far, among other things, they've replaced and refit the slide, plunger tube, and other odds and ends.
I don't think I will own anything other than Springfield pistols. Their customer service is far above reproach.Comment

I voted "some"
Colt Series 80 NRM Government was perfect out of the box. I switched to a lighter mainspring and had jams so I went back to stock and it was fine again. This was all with 230 grain FMJ and JHP. After several thousand rounds without any other issues, I tried a box of 200 grain SWC and had three failures to feed out of the box of 50. Went back to FMJ and it was fine again. So out of the box it handles 230 grain stuff just fine.
Les Baer Custom Carry had three failures in the first two magazines, and then has been fine ever since (3,000+ rounds). So it does not meet your criteria but I expected the break in period on it so I am fine with that. I actually like the Baer much better and totally trust it (only shot 230 grain bullets, both JHP and FMJ)."All bad precedents began as justifiable measures." Julius CaesarComment

Rock Island 1911 Tactical Two Tone in .45 - First, surely not my last 1911 purchase. 3 rounds into the 4th mag and the sear and disconnector failed on me. After two months of BS with the factory, I get the gun back, with a couple extra mags, thanks for the compensation. Four hundred rounds later - a minor little tap to the rear sight to get her on center - NOT ONE malfunction and this thing is tearing the center out of a two inch bull at 10 yards with the stock sights. I love this gun!!!!! It's my primary go-to home defender now. I have a hard time looking at guns that are a $1000 more with all the same features, knowing they won't shoot any better than this one after the factory gunsmith tune job on it, wondering why? I may purchase a GI model for kicks.Comment

Thanks for all the replies and votes guys. It looks like I'm in the norm. Maybe I should play the devils advocate and do a thread like this for Glocks? lol.Comment

my springer hates hp's, semi wad cutters and flat nosed rounds but it loves 230gr round nose bullets, sent it back to factory to correct the feeding issues, customer service is quick. will get anotherComment

The only 1911s I have are Dan Wessons (PM7, RZ45, and CBOB). All performed flawlessly from the start (alright, I got the PM7 used). In fact, I ran an endurance test on the PM7 to see how far I could push it (I cleaned and lubed it, and then tried to see how long I didn't have to do either. It took ~4300 rounds of various ammo, including some really dirty Wolf steel case and two trips to the desert (it was quite windy, with sand everywhere) until the first malfunction. At that point, the gun had carbon, dirt, and sand everywhere.
So, try Dan Wessons, you might finally find that problem-free 1911.DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. Sending diabetes supplies to Ukraine now, any help is appreciated.

My Les Baer TRS had a few hiccups during the first 300 rounds. After that it hasn't had any malfunctions. My Ed Brown SF has been 100% reliable from the start.Originally posted by G.
