Did your 1911 function flawlessly out of the box?

I've purchased a new SA trophy match, SA EMP 9mm, SA Loaded, and a Kimber Custom II and none of them performed without hiccups out of the box. The Trophy match required feed ramp polish/extractor tuning, EMP feed ramp polish, SA loaded reamed barrel, feed ramp polish, new extractor/slide stop, and the Kimber also had a bit of warranty work (never became 100% though). All except the Kimber became reliable but required a some warranty work.

My question is, how many of my fellow cal gunners had a out of the box production 1911 that functioned flawlessly for a minimum of 1000 rounds? Some of my buddies never had a malfunction in 5000+ rounds through their SA/Colts/Kimbers so I'm starting to wonder if I just have bad luck or I'm in the norm.

Please only vote if you have ATLEAST 1000 rounds through your 1911 without a SINGLE hiccup. My loaded was reliable for hundreds of rounds before it took a cr@p.

I have never owned a SA, but all of my 1911's have performed flawlessly right out of the box.

The only one that I had problems with was a custom build Essex but that was my fault

I have a SA loaded and it's been 100% reliable. Only problem is I don't have 1000 rds of 45 so it's been may be 400 to 500 rds reliable.

I have an SA 1911 TRP and it was not 100% out of the box. It took a trip back to SA and to a local gunsmith about a month later.

I had the extractor changed cuz the one that came with the gun was out of spec (too short), properly fitted firing pin stop and a brand new barrel cuz the original barrel had tool marks on the rifling. Terrible quality control for their most expensive production 1911. I'm a bit disappointed in SA's customer service. They wouldn't take the gun back the second time for the feeding issues and I had to put down $120 to get it running how it should've from the start.

Anyway, it's been 100% since I did the work but it's only been about 400 rounds. Before, I would have failure to feeds on every mag.

Just got an STI Trojan in 9mm and it's been flawless through 500 rounds so far.

Can't say the same for the Rock Island 1911 in 9mm that i had. I really didn't like mags over 8 rounds

My Springfield GI doesn't run flawlessly, but it doesn't have all the fancy feed ramps and ejection ports.

My RIA ran 100% reliable out of the box. It performed better than I expected.

SA Loaded 9mm and DW Valor. Both have functioned fine out of the box.

Les Baer TRS purchased new in 2005 - a little militec on it and off to the range it went followed by ~800 rounds at Gunsite. No issues, ever.

The only ammo i've ever fed it has been Federal American Eagle and Federal Hydrashok/Tactical HST.

My Springfield TRP has had no issues in 5k+ rounds. My other two 1911s were Kimbers that both had issues out of the box but they seemed to have sorted themselves out within about 300 rounds.

SA loaded x 2. Both flawless. About 300 through each. All of it steel cased.
Oops, just noticed want people with "AT LEAST 1000" rounds. Please accept my apologies.

My FIRST 1911, was a used Michigan Armament kit gun. It sucked donkey balls. Jammed on hardball - the FIRST round!

My SECOND 1911, was a new from the box Norinco 1911 (this was early '93, for reference ), and IT... sucked gopher balls. Jammed on hardball - the second magazine's worth!

I ALMOST gave up on the 1911 at that point, but I decided to stop being a cheap-azz, and buy a REAL 1911 next (in 1995) - a basic Springfield 1911-A1, NiB. It's run flawlessly from Day 1 - I still have it.

Ditto for a used S&W 1911 stainless I picked up on a whim (was looking for another 1911 at the time - just DIDN'T expect to find THAT model available, for only $575, at Gander Mountain!!! ) in 2008. It's run flawlessly since Day 1 as well.

Hope my Kimbers run as well. Shooting them is my spring project.
