Glock 17 Vs Beretta 92 FS

    Hi Guys,

I want to get a 9mm semi auto, debating between Glock 17 and Beretta 92 FS.

also Glock 17 or 19, it is strictly for range so want to get full size.

Is Beretta 92 FS trigger better than Glock? since it is Double/Single action? and also is it accurate because 92FS is 4.9 inch vs 4.49 on Glock 17?

Please advice, can't get both. Can have only one

    Thanks

Both are very different but will be great! I am sure you will hear this a lot, but shoot them both and see what you like better

Two completely different kinds of guns.

92FS - SA/DA, hammer fired, steel frame, external safety, decock, open slide, crisp trigger, etc.

Glock - "DAO" striker fired, polymer, no safety, mushy trigger, etc.

Both are "combat proven" and both are used in military and law enforcement, but each have a very, very different feel and style of operation. Handle both in person before making a decision.

If you want polymer, there are bunches of options: Glock, XD, M&P, etc. If you want steel, there are bunches of options, Beretta, Sig, CZ, etc. Decide what kind of pistol you want before narrowing down your options.

I own a 92FS and like it. I also own an XDm and like it.

The 92 fits the hand really well, its full metal frame and controls feel really good. I enjoy the heft of metal framed guns. I feel it has a better trigger in single action, if you dont like the double action you dont really need to use it.

The glock is pretty much the standard sidearm for everyone now a days. Its a great weapon, rugged and reliable, simple operation. The glock sight radius is almost the same length as the beretta, but a slightly shorter overall length. Its lightweight and easier to field strip

both are top tier 9mm's and are capable of lasting many hundreds of thousands of rounds. Both are quite acurate as well.

Personally if i had to choose between the two i would take the beretta everytime, but if i got stuck with the glock i would still be a happy camper

The 92 is much easier for me to shoot accurately with it and therefore more fun to me.

The glocks have really creepy triggers.

you said you want full size well a glock 19 isnt really a full size, if you want a nice glock for range duty and like the "full size" then your answer is the glock 34

like said there two differnt guns, all my guns have external hammers (my sig p226 da/sa) and my 1911, my coworker let me borrow his glock 34(my thread is in this section) so it'll be my first time out with a striker fire pistol , i'll let you know what i think

my overall impression of the glock 34 so far is good, i like the size and the weight of it, build wise, IMO i like my sigs build wise more, poly is nice and light but all my guns so far have been all metal and going to anything else doesnt seem right for me

I have a Glock 17 and my father owns a Beretta 96. I have shot both extensively (as well as a Colt 1911 XSE).

The Glock 17 has a long trigger pull with a hard-to-detect 2 stage trigger pull; but is manageable (IMO). The Beretta double action pull sucks - it's long and heavy compared to the Glock, but the single action is decent - an obvious 2 stage trigger and a decent let off. Obviously the Colt breaks like glass after pulling up the slack.

The Glock trigger wins over the Beretta's due to the lack of a double action pull. However, Beretta's single action pull beats Glock.

On accuracy - I have shot the Glock and Colt (and a Ruger Single Six) at 25 yards and can get most of my shots in the black with the NRA B-2 target

With the Beretta, there is no consistency and my shots are all over the target. Again, my shooting with the Glock/Colt/Ruger is consistent and accurate. My theory is that the way the Beretta is set up, the barrel is inconsistent in where it rests shot-to-shot. Go to a gunshop and check out a Beretta. Verify it's unloaded and with the slide closed, put your finger tip on the muzzle, and move the barrel. There's a lot of play.

All that said, my range-gun choice would be a G17 with a trigger job.

Do you plan on doing any mods/upgrades (like better sights)? If so the Glock is the way to go. With the Beretta what you get is pretty much what you are stuck with.

You cant go wrong with either, but they are two completly different systems. The Glock is cheaper and easier to work on / upgrade. The Beretta is the standard U.S. Military sidearm (which is pretty cool).

If you are a Leathal Weapon fan get the Beretta, if you are Die Hard fan get the Glock.

A Glock is more of a Single Action than a Double action. The stock Glock trigger is not mushy by any means, are you serious?

No, not planning on doing any upgrades. Will keep it stock.

Glock 17 or 19? like the gun to be more accurate.

                        thanks

My wife has a 92FS and a Glock 19. She absolutely loves the Beretta. With different grips we got it to fit her hands nicely which is something you won't be able to easily do with a Glock. The Beretta is quite accurate and she shoots it well. In fact, on her first outing to an IPSC match she only had a problem with one 8 inch steel at 25 yards. However, after having to fumble with the safety and the double action first shot (IPSC won't allow you to manually cock the hammer) she wanted something different.

Enter the Glock. The Glock is working much better for the competition shooting because of no safety or double action, but she will never give up her Beretta, it just feels better to her.

Since these are 2 very different animals in terms of design and function, I would suggest you go to a range that offers both as rentals and try em out. While you're at it, take a look at whatever else they have in their case. A lot of ranges will let you shoot anything they have for just the 1 rental fee. You just have to buy their ammo.

                          Good luck and happy shooting.

Since the length of the barrel is negligible at these differences, you'll be looking at the sight radius for the most part. Clearly the 17 has a longer sight radius.

                            Personally, I recommend the 19.
