    XDm issues

So i finally took my xdm 5.25 .45 to the range for the first time. Well it wasent so great. I had several ftf. Out of 200 i shot i must of had 10 to 20 ftf. My guess its the mag. All 3 of my mags had problems. I loaded all the mags to its full capacity(10) and immediatly after the first shot it ftf. So i reduced it to half and some to 6,7 or 8rds. That helped and i wasent getting ftf as much. I i only loaded to half. I still got maybe 1 ftf at half full but not as often. Im using privi. So i went and spent more money for a magtech ammo. I loaded to full capacity it ftf after the first shot. I wonder if this has happen to other xdm owners? The mags i got were when SA was having the special when their company was giving out the 3 xtra mags and magazine holder.
Any other ideas what could be causing this? I think its the mags.

Shot my g19 gen4 as well. No problems since the extracter was fixed. Ran smoothly with no issues. On the upside to my xdm, its more comfortable to shot than my glock. My knuckle keeps getting beat up. Under the trigger guard. So i have to keep adjusting.

I hope SA customer service is good

I picked up my 9mm variant two weeks ago. I shot it in two matches so far and I've had zero issues shooting my reloads (124gr FMJ with 4.2gr of W231). No experience with factory rounds.

Funny you mentioned the knuckle. I had the same experience but i didn't notice it until the morning after my first time shooting with it. It felt like I had an inexplicable sprain in my middle finger. I didn't realize it was the gun until I picked up the gun again and immediately felt the pain when my knuckle contacts the underside of the trigger guard. It's gotten better the more I shoot it.

Dunno about the 5.25 model, but I have a 9mm 4.5 XDM with a good 6-700 rds through it flawlessly. Almost all ammo was either cheap gun show reloads or Federal, both 115gr. FMJ. I got it private party and the mags that came with it were factory XDM 19 rounds mags, already blocked to 10 and glued shut. I got mine from a member here who I think said he got it through SSE via Valkrye Arms, who also did the mags. I don't know how they were modified, but they seemed to function flawlessly. My friends have had failures with limp-wristing my 92FS, but never with the XDM. I can't recall ever having a failure to feed or eject, and have been nothing but pleased with my XDM. It's probably my favorite pistol at the moment, and by far the most accurate I shoot with.

Edit: could be the mags? I just saw that you have a .45 and supposedly they use the same mags as standard XD45s. Perhaps if you could get a hold of a standard XDM mag (as a parts kit, of course), then use the block from the XD mags in the XDM mag frame? I don't know if they are any different, structurally, than the standard XD mags.

No problem with my XDm mags. Only thing I shoot is my own ammo though. I don't think Springfield is going to help you on the modified mag issue. Best to take them back to who modified them. Even though they are fixed 10 round mags, some manufactures have been known to not ship back standard capacity mags. Just check with them first.

I put 300 rounds of Federal 115gr. through my XDm 4.5 9mm with zero issues. It sounds like you tried 2 types of ammo and had problems with both.

Also sounds like you have the XD 10 round mags and not the XDm 13 rounders blocked to 10. The .45 was the only XDm that Springfield would ship the 3 free mags for into CA.

Do some searching over on XD Talk and see if anyone else has experienced this. Hopefully its an easy fix.

            Good luck!

Springfield does not currently make 10 round XDm mags. Sounds like they sent you XD mags. They will work but the follower has a different lip and they will not lock back on the XDm.

Also XDm 9&40 are not part of the promotion but the XDm. 45 is. The mags for the. 45 are interchangeable with the XD & XDm. Do you have the. 45?

Nevermind. Read your post. Try a differant brand ammo, if it still does it hand the gun off to a RO or another experienced shooter. See if it is the gun or you.

I am on my phone so I can't correct my darn posts. For some reason I had it in my head that you had the 9mm. Glad I didn't look like a fool. Insert roll eyes smiley here, since I can't on my Droid.

Pick up an XDM rebuild kit and block it off to 10 rounds and see if that solves the problem. If that doesn't help then I would contact the Springfield and see if theyll want to take a look at your gun. Maybe your XDM doesn't like the standard XD mags even though they're supposed to be compatible.

The Xdm .45 is a 13 rounder I believe. I could be wrong on that one though. Should be no problem since the followers are the same.

I tried 2 diffrent ammo. Privi and magtech. When i have it a full mag and i shot the first rd it ftf. I happen both times with the diff ammo. But when i have it half full it doesnt ftf. But it does happen once or twice. When its full it will ftf 3 times in a row or even 4.
Ill buy diff brand and have other people shoot it and see what happens. It could b me but that many times in a row?
My buddy has a colt 1911 and i didnt have ftf. So i cant b limp wristing that much.
