Help me choose a Glock

I voted 27 because you already have the 22.

The 19/23 is a really nice size but it's so close in size to your 22 that I don't see the point. You say you're issued the 22 so I'm assuming your ammo is provided for you.

If you had to pay for the ammo yourself I'd vote for G19 or 26.

23 for primary ccw. 27 for secondary ccw.

Since you're already trained and somewhat comfortable with .40 might as well stick with it. Especially since you can also use these as back up guns.

23 and 27 make more sense. Glock 26-27's are just too small without a mag extension for me personally.

I picked G23 because i love mine, you can use any size mags, it's VERY easy to conceal, and the snap of the .40 isn't an issue with the 23, whereas you feel it more with the 27. Also, can convert to 9mm if you really want to so it's like getting 2 guns in one.

I'd vote for the 27. I have a 23 also, but rarely carry it as it's just easier to hide the 27 and you can still use 22 mags in a pinch. I just carry a spare 27 mag, though. If I can't get the bad guy or extricate myself with 19 rounds, I'm in more trouble than I should have let myself get into.

For you it sounds like you'll like the 27 or 26 the best. I voted the 27 for you.

For most people I'd say 19 or 23

Several reasons:
1. You already have a full size Glock 22 in .40 and yes, the ability to pop those mags in the G27 is a great option. Plus you're already used to shooting .40
2. The GLOCK 19 and 23 are the midsize Glocks with the same frame. Both are great weapons, but for future concealed carry, the sub-compact Glocks (26 and 27) rock.
3. The Glock 27 can accept Glock 23 mags (in 10 or 13 rounds) with a spacer sleeve available from Glockstore.com.
4. If you desire, you can buy a 9MM conversion kit for the G27. Some do, some don't. Personally, if you want to run with a 9, buy a Glock 19 or 26.

Im with Bob on these. I love my 27.
I went with Pearce extensions on 27 mags; brings the round count to 10/mag and I like that my pinkie has somewhere to rest.


I also like the ability to use my G22 mags.

If starting from scratch, I'd say go with the 19, as it conceals decently (I don't think the 26/27 conceals that much better having owned full, compact, and sub-compact Glocks).

If you're issued a 22, stick with the same caliber (I prefer 9mm Glocks for numerous reasons) in .40.

Which leaves the 27 & 23. Given that you'll be carrying more than you'll be shooting, the 27 makes the most sense for concealed carry with a G22 mag.

Could also consider going to a G23 or G19 for your duty gun and carrying the SAME style of gun for both duty & concealed carry. Your qualification scores will likely be roughly 10% lower going cold from a 22 to a 23. With practice, it will likely be less.

Would recommend getting 2 different 23s/19s and not mixing them up if you decide to go that route.

Stick with the same brand/model of sights though.

Keep your work stuff separate from your personal stuff.

I like glocks but never really considered for CCW. Something about having no safety bugged me. i'm currently holstering a Spring Xd 40 sc in a leather IWB holster when working.

I want to buy a Glock as a gift for myself, but have put off the purchase for weeks due to my inability to decide. Please help me!

Here's what I've narrowed it down to and why.

Glock 26 - Small package and uses 10 round flush magazines. Thank you CA legislators

Glock 27 - I'm issued a Glock 22 for work so I could carry the 27 with 15 rounders for backup

Glock 19 - Because everyone says so. The wasted space in the magazine bugs me though

Glock 23 - Same reason for the 19 and 27

I'm going to have to disagree with this statement. I've shot both a 27 (mine) and a 23 (a friend's) side by side, and the recoil impulse is less severe with the 27. It has to do with the dual recoil spring which seems to soften the recoil.

I would go with the 19 or 23. I had a 27 it was a great shooting pistol, but just too short to enjoy to shoot. The 19 and the 23 can be used for CCW, and still fun enough to shoot that you will practice with it.
