On an unrelated note, I gotta ask: for the all the grunts who've ended up in deep water, with their sidearms going "over the beach," how many of those guns encounter corrosion issues later on? I know the Navy Sig's have phosphated internals, but I'm not sure about the M9 or anything else that's been issued.

dirtyloala, a little crazy from the bottle came out last night? LOL! When I used to work at a gunshop there were lots of customers bringing in guns to get checked or reassembled due to a night of drinking. I heard of Glocks being fired under water many times, owners think it's a Glock and won't rust. Wrong, there parts in the Glock that will rust especially after being dunk in seawater or hot springs.

just strip it down, and wipe down all the metal parts or just give them a quick shot of WD40 let soak for an hour then wipe off WD40 followed by oily rag. Make sure you get that extractor, firing pin/spring, mag release, mainspring/guts out. I don't know if you want to do the sights too. Maybe buy penetrating oil and soak.

Yes. Ramen is very high in sodium (salt) and the wet vapor coming off of the pot carries that salt with it. Stainless is rust resistant, not rust proof.
