The Taurus judge will never make it on the list because it is classified as a shotgun (with all the attendant barrel length requirements). Sorry! We all were hoping to get one too.Comment

If it can chamber a standard .410 round, it would not be legal in Ca. However, you can use a standard chambered .45LC using .45LC shotshell loads and it is legal in Ca.Originally posted by DedEyeAre there any other .45/.410 revolvers that aren't classified as shotguns?NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

I've been thinking about this a bit lately....
Do the standard shotgun definitions apply to the SBS portion of CA legal code?
If it does not have a stock attached, then its not a shoulder fired weapon, and I thought shotguns were defined as being shoulder fired. If its not a shotgun, how can it be a SBS or an AW?
just something to think about.Comment

A .410 revolver is also a banned shotgun due to being defined by characteristic features listed in PC 12276.1:
SHOTGUNS:
A semiautomatic shotgun having both of the following:
- A folding or telescoping stock.
- A pistol grip protruding conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
- A thumbhole stock, or a vertical handgrip.
- A semiautomatic shotgun with the ability to accept detachable magazines.
- Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Regardless of what a "shotgun" is, an SBS is a separately-defined entity. Something can be "not a shotgun" and yet be covered by SBS definition.I've been thinking about this a bit lately....

Doesn't the BATF consider the judge a pistol and not a SBS because the barrel is rifled and it serves a "sporting purpose"?

California state law is the problem. It defines "Short-barreled shotgun" specifically as any firearm capable of firing a shotgun shell, but doesn't meet the minimum length requirements.sigpicNRA MemberOriginally posted by Deadbolt"We're here to take your land for your safety"

Correct, I know CA is the problem with their definition of an SBS.
Is there a definition of a "Fixed shotgun shell"? I mean, honestly, what's the difference between a .410 shell or a .45LC with snake shot?
Also, if anyone hasn't seen it already, the Box 'o Truth did a test on the Judge. Basically looks like shooting .410 out of it is a waste of time and money. http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot41.htm"If a man hasn't found something worth dying for, he isn't fit to live." - Martin Luther King Jr.

My .410 Contender barrel, while a lot of fun to shoot within 25yds, is pretty much worthless after that. I imagine a "snubby" style revolver launching OOObuck would be great for bad gys in the house.....and that's about it. Then again, so would a .45LC."A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......CiceroComment
