The FPB does not cam upwards until a few millimeters before the trigger bar contacts the sear; there's some resistance as the FPB is lifted out of the way, then sear contact. There's a ton of dead/free play before that point, which is what I am proposing to eliminate by putting a set screw into the trigger. The SA trigger I tried takes all the dead play out, but the trigger is set right where the stock trigger would be in SA anyway. At least with the stock trigger modified, I could move it back further than with the SA trigger. Does this make sense? It's kind of hard to explain
yes that does, I belive the CZ custom 85 trigger has that screw on it already for adjusting out the pre-travel. Could be wrong, I really dislike navigating there website so its been a while since I have been on it.

edit* its not the 85, its the custom SAO, which has the traditional CZ75 SA trigger shape which I like a lot.

Unfortunately, that's the exact same trigger I tried, hoping I could take out the pretravel. No dice. Nearly any adjustment rearwards causes the FPB to not reset, and I get a dead trigger as a result. I tried putting something in the way of the stock trigger from returning all the way forward into DA, just enough to hear the "click" of the trigger resetting in SA (stuck the end of a spoon in there). Sure enough, not only does the stock trigger sit further back than the czcustom SAO trigger, but it resets every single time I rack the slide. This is why I was thinking about adding my own, longer set screw into the trigger, to set the stock position further back and prevent the gun from going back into DA mode.

I really think your best bet it just to eliminate the FPB if its that much of an issue. Sorry I cant help, I stick with DA/SA guns so getting that perfect SA trigger isnt something I work with really.

Get on the CZ forums, they could provide a lot more, but you have herd it from THE man David on having to add material to the lifer.

Schmeky in the house. This guy helped me oodles with CZ I bought from a Calgunner. With not a dime spent on my part, he walked me through trigger improvement solutions. Not a better fellow to be found.

I would think you just put that final nail in the box with this statement. Sounds like you really know what needs to be done.

Also, thanks guys for showcasing my "stuff". I'm just a piney woods, hot sauce lovin' cajun doing what I love to do.

Hmmm...schmecky, would you be willing to perform the lifter arm timing modification you described at your shop? Sounds easy to do but I don't have your knowledge and knowhow to do it properly.
