Besides, with SSE becoming so commonplace, it'll be easier and easier to challenge the stupid roster(especially since it considers older guns still on it to be "safe" without a mag disconnect and LCI even though new additions require it).
Of course I don't *want* a mag disconnect - but I *do* want a chance to buy the products that the rest of the country is able to purchase. I really don't care how - if it's by SSE, great! But, if that loophole is closed - then what? I would rather have a 1911 with a mag disconnect than no 1911 at all. I also don't want to be stuck always buying the guns on the existing list. I have great faith in the ingenuity of the engineers at Colt, SA, S&W, Sig, Ruger, etc - and I hope they don't abandon California!

Doesn't having a mag disconnect mean that by default the magazine is now an integral part of the firearm? Meaning, the argument that a SA pistol without a magazine is 'incomplete'.

That is the only logic I can see behind the design requirement.

That or there is a rash of rummies taking out the mags with 1 in the pipe.

If they consider a stripped lower a firearm, then they can declare anything they want a firearm...

I think AKs are the most ludicrous - put two 90 deg bends in a sheet of stamped steel, and you just made a firearm!

I meant in regards to the argument of carrying the firearm. If the pistol can fire a round with or without a magazine in it then you can argue that the magazine is not 'part of the firearm'. If you cannot discharge the pistol without a magazine then the other side can argue that the magazine is needed to 'complete the firearm'.

Not really anything for us gun owners to worry about, more for the lawyers to quibble.

Browning's original patent for the 1911 did include a magazine disconnect. The rear of the trigger had a tab that engaged a slot in the mag catch when a mag was in the gun. If the mag was not in the gun, the slot would not be lined up with the tab and the trigger couldn't be pulled. The mag catch would be recessed a little on the right side when a mag wasn't in the magwell, and flush (like it is now) with a mag in the gun.

It was the Army who took that "feature" out and added a thumb safety.

I thought I saw that somewhere before too...but I wouldn't swear to it. If true, it would make sense as a calvary officer losing his magazine is forseeable as is the inadvisability of trying to holster a loaded and cocked 1911 or trying to de-cock it on a trotting horse

                Morcarr67,

Over the last week or two you have been a spewing a variety incorrect posts. It seems that you get various parts of various laws confused with each other.

The worry about your posts is that the grammar and spelling are OK so folks actually may think you know what you are talking about.

This last post of yours, quoted above, is another one.

Thanks for the info bwiese. I was wondering about that I just did not know where to look. If you could answer another question, what about the loaded chamber indicator I don't see one on my GSG isn't there suppose to be one on it?

This. It's not on the roster because it has no magazine disconnnect & no loaded chamber indicator.

To my knowlege Ruger has no plans to make a Kalifornistan compliant model.

Mag disconnect safeties are stupid, but required per CA DOJ (along w/ loaded chamber indicator). Most gun manufacturers won't supply the mag safety because it adds another failure point for a pistol. And I can't blame the manufacturers - except for one thing - market share. CA is a big market. Can be (in some cases - 1/3 of all sales for a given gun model).

And any safety can be removed by the owner if he/she deems that necessary. So, I am also surprised Ruger passed on this opportunity.

If we could do away with the roster and the 10rd limit I would be satisfied....

I have to agree and disagree with you you.

I do sometimes get confused and mix up somethings and I try to use the best grammar that I can.

In the past week or so you have corrected 2 post; this and one other. I don't call that "spewing a variety incorrect posts".

If other post were so wrong you probably would have corrected those too.

Also, there is no need to take to comments like that with me. I have never been anything but courteous, respectful and thankful of you.

Have I been wrong all this time?

I will continue to give input on this forum. And, from time to time I may be wrong. Feel free to correct me as you wish.
                          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

This is part of what Bill was talking about when he corrected me. It's the loaded chamber indicator that is not needed on rimfire handguns.

And both of those are things Ruger has been putting on their guns for years. Pretty sure they could do it to a 1911. That would make..what? FIVE safeties?

Still, the mag disconnect could be removed and the LCI... well, I have one on my 22/45 & quite honestly I never know it's there.
