Its legal to own. Not legal to buy it as it stands from an FFL. You can either buy it privately off an LEO or get it with a single shot exemption

It's not on the roster yet...

It will never be on the roster at all. Its a 1911, you cannot add a mag disconnect to it.

Why not? Over the years Colt has made significant changes to the safeties of the 1911 - why couldn't someone design a new mag disconnect safety?

Why in gods name would you add a mag disconnect to a 1911... it wouldn't be a 1911. The series 80 firing pin block does add something, however it doesn't actually change the function of the 1911. A magazine disconnect would indeed change the function of it.

Besides, with SSE becoming so commonplace, it'll be easier and easier to challenge the stupid roster(especially since it considers older guns still on it to be "safe" without a mag disconnect and LCI even though new additions require it).

Why is a mag disconnect safety considered more safe in the first place? Whats their reasoning behind requiring one?
This may sound strange and unbelievable to you, but it is real and true.

It's not "more safe" it just stops you from firing if there is no magazine in place.

Reasoning? LOL, "reasoning" in CA gun laws, haha.

Maddog thats not totally true. The GSG 1911-22 is CA. approved and it does have a mag disconnect.

Redhemi - rimfire pistols don't need a magazine disconnect safety.
                        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
