I've used the same pair of baseball batting gloves for over 10 years. I guess you might say they don't make them like they used to.

Does anyone use "shooting gloves?" Which ones?

Heavy Hitters Inc.
Sig P226R 9mm
Remington 1100 12ga
Ruger 10/22 w/ Hogue stock, Barska scope, Ruger target/heavy barrel -
Personally I go bare.
But I've seen good reviews about the Oakley heavy duty and machanix gloves. Seem to be quite popular too but those are from rifle guys. Not sure how they do with pistol shooting.
Hope this helps.Comment

I would keep my face covered too.
Gloves are not mall ninja though they do help when you shoot your gun a lot and if your doing any kind of training you'll be sorry you don't have them. My vote goes for Oakley when I used to be a regular Electrician I would go through a pair of Mechanix or CLC gloves in 4 weeks.Comment

I used to laugh at the notion of gloves, then I burned myself on a Ruger .22 pistol at the shooting range.
Just from the heat of it sitting there in the sun.
Now, I wear some old FOX MTB/etc gloves, or (if I am feeling really pro) some Chinabrand gauntleted Nomex gloves w/leather palm.
Go great with a short sleeved shirt hahahaThis business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.Comment

I'm talking working near exhaust type parts though - so they are hot. They also don't make good gloves for holding anything you are grinding on. They are super comfy.
The ones I've used are the $18 pair from any auto shop - if they have an upgraded model then I've not used it.
I prefer leather for working on cars/hot parts - and I prefer shooting without gloves - regardless of how long I'm doing it.Comment

It depends upon what kind of shooter you are and what kind of shooter you are training to be.
It makes sense if you are someone who wears glove a lot anyway, especially if you are in the military or an LEO.
Not so much if you are a citizen training for self defense, and you don't normally wear gloves."It's easy to be hungry when you ain't got $h!t to lose..." W. Axl Rose

Yes, there are a couple places by me who sales them. I see that your location is Texas, you may have to internet search your area or purchase online. There is a brand called Custom Leathercraft (CLC) also, that Sears sales that are similar in design and quality.Last edited by 1forall; 10-20-2011, 7:02 PM."Only a fool leans upon his own misunderstanding."- Bob MarleyComment

I have some black underarmor baseball batting gloves. They're exactly the same thing that underarmor sells as their "tacticool shooting gloves", but for half the cost, and even less getting them on closeout at Big 5.
They probably wouldn't survive being shoved fist first up a bears backside, but they work good for shooting and doing mild stuff like carbine courses. Let me know how your $80 gloves work out in the bear test.

I have a pair of 511 tactical gloves, that I very rarely use. It makes loading and racking and magazine changes more difficult, but simulates panic situations a little more such as waking up in the middle of the night with somebody breaking in.Stupid people; They're breeding.
