Might not be the best example. The went to some pretty far extremes back in fuedal Japan to make those samuri swords just right. The folded the steel hundreds if not thousands of times to get it super strong. The ones made in machine shops and meant to be hung on walls and not used in battle are not as strong. You can buy a modern sword made the traditional way...but it will run you upwards of $5K. Sorry, sold swords for a while. Had to learn a lot about them. Not much of a market for them compared to firearms.

Some of the modern 1911s are manufactured with far superior methods and attention to detail to the orginal 1911s. Some are made pretty much the same.

This is stupid, because I was obviously joking.

But, if you make the argument that the 1911 has been around since 1911 because the design is so good (which was why I posted what I posted, jokingly, in response), then my samurai sword argument still holds up and you've completely proven that in your post. Current 1911's are not all manufactured the same way or with the same materials as the original, just like what you said about swords. However, the excellent design has withstood the test of time. It's a freakin' perfect example

I own a G21 SF & an RIA 1911A1. About the same in price & parts are easy to come by. But I don't see any Glock-likeness in my RIA, or my 1911-ness to my G21. It's basically comparing apples to oranges. I like shooting both. I think it just becomes a matter of personal preferences. As my preference, it'd be my G21 SF.

Ruger is a nice piece as well. And not that expensive for the features you get.
