If it's all Titanium, it will be the favorite carry gun for scuba divers (no rust!)...

How about a 5/8" thick, all-titanium .45 ACP or 9mm? Check this out.

I'm not saying they would be covering the ports - I'm just looking at how close those ports on the lower barrel appear to be to the trigger - and they are angled out to the side. This is a .45, not a .22 - I'm thinking there's going to be a significant amount of blast. I guess since it's most likely going to be a 1-hand gun, the weak hand thumb won't be anywhere near there. He who exercises no forethought but makes light of his opponents is sure to be captured by them.

This gun would be pretty easy to convert to single shot exempt.Comment

Thanks for the use of your photo earlier in the thread
How would you do it? Just sacrifice an "upper" and weld an extention on one barrel and plug the other?
Again though... just spinning the wheels since the gun hasn't been released yet, if it actually will be, and it may very well end up on the roster anyway and not need SSE.Comment

This gun also reminds me of the old COP .357.

I don't think I want to spend 3 hours at the range with this puppy.
I too wonder about how well a Titanium barrel will hold up.
With only two rounds and my poor shooting, I'd be in trouble.
When will HKS/Safariland make a speed loader? With only two rounds, you might need a few of those.

There are quite a few alloys of Ti though. Some are extremely hard but can be brittle, and some are more ductile. If they do it right, there is certainly an alloy that would work properly as a barrel. ...and .45 ACP is a fairly low pressure round... At least this applies to structural strength -- not sure about wear on the rifling and how long it would hold up.
Of course, I probably wouldn't put more than a couple hundred rounds down range over the life of this gun...

Haha. Gotta say... I'm pretty sure it's HD for Heizer Defense, the company that makes the gun
BTW, in case there's any confusion, I'm just following the thread here because I started it and I think the gun's pretty interesting and such. I don't work for Heizer or have any connection to them or have any more info than what's on their website and the interwebs... so everything I've said here aside from the first post is a guess or just total bull***tLast edited by JeremyS; 10-16-2011, 5:48 PM.Comment
