If it shoots both barrels at once, the ATF will define it as a fully automatic weapon.

Actually it's not just about converting to single shot. You have to meet the at least 6" barrel length and at least 10.5" overall length requirements. Typically that means installing a really long barrel onto the gun for the paperwork, and then swapping back to the factory one afterwards. This also means you don't want it to be permanent so rivets wouldn't be so great.

For instance, here are parts for making a 1911 single shot exempt. You have the plastic stuff to block the magazine and make it so only a single round can be used in the gun, and you have the long barrel to meet the overall length requirement (and you can take the stuff back out and put the factory things in once it is registered):

what about a barrel sleeve that converts it to 32acp and is long enough to satisfy the requirements pinned in the top barrel and an aluminum plug in the bottom one, i dont know much about the laws but pop rivets are permanent until they are drilled out.

i cant afford it anyway i just like it and i would like to see it in Californians hands

If I were a shop doing SSE's, which I'm not, I would machine (or have machined for me) a new barrel part -- that entire section on the top of the frame that pivots upwards. It would have a single barrel instead of two, and it would be like 10" long. That would meet the requirements and would be extremely quick and simple to swap out. OR, I would just purchase the upper part from the company, weld a barrel extension on one of the barrels, weld the other chamber shut, and call it a day (this is how the shops make the long barrels for semi-autos, like the one pictured in my post above. They just buy a barrel and weld an extension to it and grind it smooth. Yes, you can weld titanium.)

Keep in mind that you really only need one. Every time a customer wants the gun, you put that SSE barrel you made on it, do the paperwork, and then swap the factory one back on. You keep the same SSE barrel to use over and over again. This is why something that swaps in quickly and easily, even if it's more expensive to make in the first place, probably makes more sense than something that takes significant time to 'smith into each gun and 'smith to remove and might damage or mar the factory piece.

Besides the fact that thinking about how to SSE the gun is getting totally ahead of ourselves, because the company could always have it put on the roster if they wanted to and could afford to do so. There's nothing about this gun that would prevent it from being on the roster.

I'll ask a silly question - what happens to your hand when the gas and flame shoots out of those top ports? Maybe it doesn't matter because the only way to really use that thing is to shove it against the goblin and give him both barrels...

I think that would be easy - pop off the two barrels, use a however long is needed single shot barrel on the thing.

Recall High Standard had their "DA" deringer and COP had their 4 shot version too. There's 38 Special version that looks like the HS floating about, can't recall the brand.

BTW, there's no weight listed - I'm guessing that means it doesn't exist yet? Does maybe 8oz sound right?
