    Glock or 1911?

Well, I have the itch for another handgun. As much as I love my Sig, I'm a bit bored with it and want something else. I've shot both 1911s and Glocks, and understand that they're completely different beasts. As my Sig really serves the purpose of home defense, this second one would probably be for fun, but for home defense as well. If I get a Glock, I want a baby one; a 26, 27, or 36. For a 1911, I'm not so sure. I haven't shot that many but prefer the SA to the Kimber, and the Dan Wesson to both of them. Another option would be to get a WWII used one, which I had on the back burner for a while, but has come back to life. If I do get the WWII one, however, it's something I'd want to shoot as well as have on the shelf. I understand that the 1911 won't be able to take as much abuse as the Glock, but will I have to baby it? Also, which one would serve a better purpose for overall enjoyment as well as a BUG to my Sig?

    Thanks in advance!

A Glock can not shoot as well as this! Granted I could buy 3 Glocks!

If you're going to get a BUG firearm, you're better off delegating that task to a baby glock vs. assigning that role to a full-size 1911. My Kimber Custom II TLE/RL is quite heavy for a handgun, and if I carry it OC or concealed in like say, Arizona, that gun is my main, not my BUG.

          Get both !
Glocks are cheaper compare to Kimber or Dan Wesson, so if you have the money, buy a 1911. As much as I love my Glock, 1911s are a lot more fun to shoot. Also it's a different platform than sig or Glock, EI manual thumb safety, grip safety, SA only, a lot narrower frame and slide.
After a little while, get yourself a baby Glock.

Yeah. I had also considered a baby 1911. I've been dying for an SVI 3.9' and would consider putting the purchase off a while to get it done properly and do it as an SSE.

Are the Dan Wessons good to go out of the box, or are there generally suggested aftermarket upgrades?

so why can't a 1911 take as much abuse as a glock?

and you can always get a ria 1911 and a glock, they cost just about the same.

Either one. I'm not throwing any 1911 (except maybe an RIA ) out of an airplane onto pavement, running it over with a bulldozer, burying it in cement, handing it to a Democrat, and then expecting it to shoot. I expect that from the Glock.

DW out of the box are tight, real tight. They need break in. They are built semi-custom with Ed Brown parts. No need for upgrades. The CBOB is equal to the Kobra Carry, minus the scallops and EB name.

I got mine before DW hit the mainstream and paid $999.00
