My Beretta (purchased new 1985) has barely seen the light of day since I fired my first GLOCK.
The Beretta is a fine, accurate and aesthetically pleasing handgun, but when the time comes to defend myself, I'll be reaching for one of my GLOCKs.

My 2 cents. Both are great guns and each is going to have it's own following. But in my opinion which one is best for you is the one that is going to feel most comfortable in your hand. The Beretta 92FS was the first handgun I've ever owned and I love it and still shoot it to this day every time I'm out on the range. When I was thinking about getting a Glock 17, I shot several of my friends glocks both 17 and 19 and although they were nice I did not like the feel of the grip angle. I went with an XD9 instead and it felt soooo much more comfortable in my hands than the glock ever did.

If you have friends that have either one ask them if you can shoot it or head to the range and see if they rent one or come to one of our calguns shoots, more than likely there will be some glocks and berettas and I'm sure there will be at least a few of us that will be more than happy to let you shoot off a few rounds.

i'd go for the G17.

I have both. The 92fs is a much nicer looking gun but if my life depended on either a G17 or a 92fs, I'd go with the G17.

Both are excellent pistols, but I'll take the Glock myself. However, like others said, you have to shoot both to make your decision.

I have 3 g17 and a berretta 96 I know its in .40 but it hasn't seen the range in years. The g17 sees daily use but that is my preference and i suggest trying both.

I know it's hard to speel. But Beretta 96 is not my favaroate eitha. Um, the 92 IS my favorite. And I have six 92's but no Glocks. I'm not a fan of strikers or that articulated trigger.

And something about that grip on Glocks - folks gloss over it by using a soldering iron to FIX it, just amazing. Just looks like a melted mess.

Give me iron/aluminum guns. With HAMMERS, and manly decockers with safeties.

I have carried both (18 years and 3 Combat tours w/M9 and 7 years LEO G22) both are great but the Glock just keeps going the Beretta needs tender loving care i.e cleaned regularly and must have sand mags to work properly at least in the sand box anyway. The Beretta sure is pretty the Glock not so much.

the fact that the glock is even mentioned in the same poll as the Beretta and that the glock has received any votes at all is a very sad commentary one the educational efforts of CGN,

I hide my face in shame, even the anti's lurking on calgunz know to vote for the Beretta
