Looking for input on a new 9mm

I'm considering a new 9mm. It will be for target shooting at the range.

I'm looking at either the xdM 5.25 or CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical

I like both. I like the long slide and match barrel for maybe increased accuracy at the range. I like the CZ for all metal frame which will help with recoil and make it accurate as well.

Which would you get and why? Thanks.

Oh...which model? Bi-tone or all black?

I am a CZ fan but if you can somehow manage to pull it off I would get the XDM 5.25. It is not on the Roster and is better suited for target practice and it comes nicely modded with a better trigger and target sights.

The SP-01 Tactical (The one in the above picture is a standard SP01) is half plastic and comes with a decocker which comes with a horrible trigger pull and standard sights. It is also not on the roster as well.

Although I prefer not to talk about CZ's, since they are becoming rathar popular these days, I would go and grab a CZ 75 SHADOW LS BLACK 9mm from the CZ custom shop. It will have a smaller amount of felt recoil, longer sight radius, target sights, and a nicer trigger pull. It is also not on the Roster and costs $1750 .

I have had a CZ 75b for years. All of the guns that I have purchased from CZ have been first rate, and I would not hesitate to buy another. My only complaint was the trigger on the 75b. I have massaged it to the point that it's acceptable now. Someone will come along to talk about the trigger on the SPO-1. Since this will be a range gun, have you considered the single action only model?

Slow down abit u have confused the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical with the CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom.
Also the CZ 75 SP-01 pictured is taken from the czcustom website and has the competition hammer kit installed.

To OP what would be the cost difference for you?

It would cost me $180 more OTD for the xdM 5.25

          About $670 OTD for CZ
          and $850 OTD for xdM

Get the CZ. The XD has a high bore and well, not trying to be like EVERYONE else but the CZ is just an awesome gun.

im with himurax, on his first paragraph, I recommend the CZ, but if u think u can buy it later, take advantage and buy the xdm first, thats a hard to find because its off roster.

Is it just me or is CZ slowly producing guns these days???

Judging by his price quotes,OP is not conaidering the target version, but the regular SP01.
I would say its a distribution issue, one of my local ranges keeps it in stock 24/7 it seems to me.

I was looking for a 9mm for defensive, target, & carry around a rural property. Needed 100% dependable first & foremost, acceptable accuracy, plus good ergo's & quality. I ended up choosing CZ75C, the 'original CZ Compact' with steel frame.

Gun is plenty light enough to carry all day, and I think it's very nice looking. Added Grips4U walnut grips that fit the hand very well and have just right checkering & CZ logo, for around $50. Made in USA by a small family owned business in Idaho.[Their website's down this AM so no link]

Trigger was okay & would have 'worked in' over time, but decided to add the CZ85C Competition Hammer & spring. I'm strongly mechanically inclined, well familiar with complex machines so it was installed at home. Safety was modified in a way different [honed] from common suggestions but works fine & reliably. I found it fairly easy to get it all working right. Also used the 13lbs Mainspring. Parts were about $75 or so.

Results: an extremely accurate gun, a trigger in DA at 8oz, down 5oz from original 13oz, and SA at 3oz from original 13oz. Crisp, clean & flawless trigger. Overall I couldn't ask for more, especially at the price for all from CZ Custom. Excellent service & FAST shipping by Rob at CZ.

Worked for me, exactly what I wanted!
