The bullets with my name on it I'm not worried about, it's the "To whom it may concern" ones I'm worried about.

That guy is 99% more than likely full of bull****.

      Some people can't hit a can @ 300 yards with a Remington 700 sniper.

Is it POSSIBLE to hit a can that far away with a 357 ? Sure. But not likely.

Anything is possible but that story is HIGHLY unlikely. I doubt a normal person can even see a soda can at 300 yards with the naked eye. With how high you would have to hold even if you could somehow see it you would be covering it with the gun. Just my opinion though.

It's possible he said it ... not probable that he accomplished it.

                Beginners luck with a gun.

Some complete newbs aim up the sights like they are told to and then squeeze the trigger with no idea about the muzzle blast or recoil. They are taken completely by surprise by the trigger break and don't flinch at all. Then all following shots are a flinch-fest, but that first virgin shot has a very good chance at hitting something!

Also, the OP never said there was a single can out at 300 yards. Maybe there were a heck of a lot of cans out there and the shooter wasn't even aiming at the one that he hit.

Maybe it's like that scene from "The Jerk" where the shooter really really hates cans?

Bob Munden shot a balloon at 600yrds with a .44 mag. Took him 3 shots i think.

A very good target revolver will be capable of shooting 3moa (1.5" at 50yards=3.0" at 100 yards). So at 300 yards you're looking at about a 9" circle for the round to land in, or 18" at 600 yards. Hits are possible with correct elevation and windage, but not very reliably unless the target is larger than that.

Yes, it is possible. However, the shooter was aiming at a fence post about 10' to the right when he hit the can. In fact, he hit about a dozen of them. They were in a recycling pile.

At 300 yards, he would have to compensate for quite a bit of drop with a handgun. If its his first time shooting, he would probably not know that and certainly not know how much drop. I smell...Bull****.

But if its true, he was probably just really, really, really lucky.
