I could make that shot at 100 yards, At 300 yards though you would need to hold pretty high. Not impossible but thats a very difficult shot to make even if you were aiming at the point of impact. Mix in the fact that its a new shooter who has to guess how high to aim, and you probably have a better chance of winning the lottery. It is possible though

Even at 100 yds, just seeing the can would be pretty darned good! Hitting it would be the proverbial 'shot in the dark'. If it went down, it was likely the wind!
