I need your advice...please...

Ok so here is the dilemma:

I am graduating from school in a month (Master's in psychology) and I am going to get some graduation money, as well as the o.k. from the boss (my wife) to get another gun. I have set my eyes on a Glock 22, but when I walked in the gun shop the other day, I saw an all black Kimber Custom II for couple hundred more than the Glock. But then I saw a Savage .308 rifle with a scope all ready to go for the same price as the Glock, 500 dollars. The Kimber is 730 dollars so now I dont know what to get. I already have 2 pistols and 3 rifles, but want another pistol to add to the collection. However, I dont have a precision shooter like the Savage. And all I do is shoot paper so all my guns are range toys only.

Which would you pick:

Glock 22 - 40cal
Kimber Custom II - 45acp
Savage 111 - .308

My first response, as a fellow student, is to pay off your loans...

My next response is the Kimber, if you don't have a 1911, you need one and a kimber is a nice place to start.

Glocks are great (I own more of those than anything else) but you can always pick one up later on.

I would say get the savage, but if you already have 3 rifles... then yea.

Student loans is 30 grand, so the money for the gun is going to come from gifts from family and friends.

Take a tactical class or two to shoot something other than paper? Pick up a Frontsight membership or something. Or maybe try out a competition shooting class. Buy some steel targets and head out to BLM. Just a few suggestions other than buying another gun that's only going to be a range toy to broaden your horizons.

I would get the Kimber. Everyone needs a 45 at some point. OR buy a crap load of ammo.

The kimber is really sweet. You will enjoy shooting it more than the other two options IMO. I just bought the same gun, and it was my first 1911. It is just a TON of fun.

You have 2- 9mms and 2-.223s . . I say stay with one of those calibers rather than adding another caliber.

Or if you look around, you can probably get another .22 pistol and .22 rifle for the same amount of money.

I just got a Savage 110 in 30 06 for Hunting (not my idea of a range toy).
The Kimber sounds like more fun at the range.
Hint: for a fun range toy get a CMP M1 Garand ($495 field grade or a $695 service grade).
Then get a shotgun
then a lever action
then a nice 1911 45acp
then a bolt action......

Don't forget a big safe.

What NO .45?? Oh you need a .45ACP, Kimber makes some nice ones. And as far as getting permission from the boss, I like the "it's better to ask for forgiveness, than to ask for permission" stance. Good Luck. Turner's sometimes has a shoot down in Norco/Corona at Rauhagges Range and they let you shoot before you buy.

I say get whichever you feel the most need for, although that is easier said than done. G22 is a great gun, I love mine. Plus that's what you wanted in the first place. "Only another couple hundred" can go on as far as you choose to keep looking, you can either daydream or you can be broke.

Get the Glock 22. You can buy a 9mm barrel and shoot both calibers. The Kimber Custom II is a nice gun, but I think they are overpriced and you can get more bang for your buck with a Springfield.

Savage rifles are well made, but you don't see too many precision shooters, i.e. SWAT or military snipers, using them.

FYI I own a Glock 22, Kimber Custom II, and a Savage/Stevens rifle, but in .223.
