I can't spend my money on something I would never shoot, but is a historic handgun. There's no such thing as a former Marine. - General James F. Amos, 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps

Yeah. It's gold with collector value and moving parts
. Plus, if stuff really hits the fan to the point where gold doesn't even have value, this item will still keep the zombies at bay.

There's a lot of really nice Colts floating around the secondary market right now. Beautiful, but I'm spending that much on a gun at this point in my life, I'm going to want to shoot it.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

Thats NOT a 4K gun with the 'handling' marks i see on it. It's 2500 tops and that including taking the rarity and the serial into account. It's kinda in between a nice shooter and a safe queen, with the pitting, the cylinder marks, turn ring, ding on the ramp insert and something going on where the hammer is near the frame by the upper part of the back strap i really can't see it being worth more than $2500. Its a shame because that is/was a beautiful piece.Comment

that thing is suspicious at best.
How would colt let the FIRST of a gun come out of their place with a burr and a cylinder fit so tight it scratches the crap out of the cylinder. Not to mention the odd pitting. Not saying its not real BY ANY MEANS, just saying SOMETHING seems very odd.
Regardless, its a shame that its in such poor condition. especially for having never been shot.Comment

^^^ true.
You think Colt would repair/restore it to how it should be?... you know, gratis...Comment

The "pitting" on the cylinder catch appears to be from the casting process. If it were from rust there would be evidence of rust removal (IE: Wire brush marks) which there are none.
The bur up against the tight cylinder may have not been prevalent enough to show at the Colt factory and became noticeable after some handling. As for Colt allowing #1 to have such a QC issue... has anyone ever made pancakes? The first one never comes out right. First runs have hiccups, it happens. Anyone remember the Glock Gen4s?"If it wears out, replace it. If it breaks, upgrade." -Cranky Air Force Vet.
