I would take a pre strike Python over that Elite any day, dont care if its the first of the line of blue 6 inch Elites. The only thing Elite about it is the roll mark.

I love Pythons but thats just GAGA over some clever marketing.

Those of us who own Pythons from the 50's and 60's do not get excited about anything with "Elite" stamped on it.

I think it is stupid and akin to the S&W revolver lock. WTH were they thinking???

And sloppily handled as well. No excuse for that turn line & gouged up cylinder if the owner was keeping it unfired for a "collector" piece.

The owner did not handle it. He received it from a recently deceased member of his family. He is selling it as is, how he received it.

The bur up against the tight cylinder may have not been prevalent enough to show at the Colt factory and became noticeable after some handling. As for Colt allowing #1 to have such a QC issue... has anyone ever made pancakes? The first one never comes out right. First runs have hiccups, it happens. Anyone remember the Glock Gen4s?
Are you serious? You are comparing a completely hand fitted hand made weapon to a mass produced one? Lets compare apple to apples here. Colt didn't let that leave the shop like that. That was from handling over the years. Even if that was made when Colt had its work force 'out to lunch' they wouldn't have let it leave that way. I don't know if you have ever owned a python before but i have owned 6. I can tell you it would have not left that way. The pitting may be a casting flaw but it looks like the finish is burnished in the area and even around the firing pin hole too. Maybe its the camera, Granted it is STILL a beautiful weapon but does it warrant the price tag, Its not for me to say what someone else would pay for colt's less than best.

I'm comparing the fact that the FIRST RUN of a product can have flaws.

We did not set the price on the auction. The weapon was consigned to us. The owner set the price and someone has bid, so that shows that the weapon is worth that much to someone.

To my eye it's overpriced, although I'd expect someone will pay that for it.

It's been dry fired some, without snap caps unfortunately. The turn ring and the buggering around the flash hole make me think that. The pitting on the cylinder release is all about the casting. I've seen similar on many Pythons, my own included.

The serial number put on, albeit carefully, with a pin punch is a bit off putting. I think I'd be getting hold of Colt and inquiring before seriously considering a bid or an offer.

if i had the bucks, i would buy it, and shoot it, after all what good is a firearm, if you don't shoot it? and if the need to sell it would come, (and it would have to come hard), i am sure i could get a better percentage for it, than i could for my house.

                              A fine piece of machinery...

Only thing is that it's slightly over-priced by about $1,500-ish in it's condition.
